How long are you going to wait after the wedding to try to get pregnant?

Original post by Bridex100

We're thinking 1 year. Then we can have a baby our 2nd year of marriage.

How long have you guys been dating?

We've been dating for a collective 4 years. Woah. 2.5 yrs dating before engagement and we had a 1.5 yr engagement.

Time sure does fly. Can't believe we are talking babies already!

a little over a year. I want to go to Mexico, London, few other things before the babies come. my mom was pregnant with me when she got married, figured she'd wait for Hawaii. never happend! they went to Mexico for the honeymoon, never took any other big trips like that. now she's 46. I don't want to end up like that, never seeing London, or Paris.

it's also been almost 2 1/2 years for us. our favorite thing to do is travel to new places. but once we're satisfied with that, babies! def before 30.

We're trying right away. FH doesn't want to be an old father (he's already 32)

Definitely not for a while - maybe never. If we do have kids it will probably be in a few years - maybe when I'm 30/31 - so we'll have been together for 10/11 years.

We're getting married July 28, and we'll be starting IVF in the beginning of September.

If we don't start in the suite after the ceremony?

JK, not even 24 hrs. I have a 6 yr old and didn't even want that big of a gap in kids, so I would like to start right away. FH wants to wait until we have a house, but I figure if we can save all this money for a wedding in 10 months, we can do it again for a house! So my answer is right away!

We actually got married on our 4 year anniversary.

DH and I are not planning on having children. We are both really into our jobs, and are always away. We got a cat to see how we would do with that kind of responsibility, and realized after we needed to find a 'babysitter' less than a month after we got her that kids probably wouldn't be a good choice for us. (Luckily my brother loves our little kitty just as much as we do and is always willing to babysit when we both need to be away).

My DH always used to tell me that he didn't want kids and instead wanted cars and dogs... When I heard those words, I knew I was in love! .

We're not having children either. We have horses, and eventually dogs. (We don't even have time for a dog right now!)

When I found out he didn't want kids either, it was a match made in heaven! (Note - we don't hate kids or anything. They're just not for us! We have lots of neices and nephews to spoil)

we will probably wait for 2 years because of job security reasons. I am a teacher and want to wait until I have tenure.

We have known each other since 1998. We dated in highschool, split up for 7 years and got back together in January of 2005. We got engaged on our 2 year anniversary.

We are getting married November 14, 2008. We are going to start trying for a baby in January 2009 after the holidays.

We are excited for kids and decided that we would not let children stop us from vacationing/traveling and that once the baby is 1-2 years old, it will be fun going on vacation and experiencing the world as a family!

Ideally I'd like to have a baby by 30 so after the wedding that will leave me about 3 full years to have a baby. I feel ready now but think I'd like to be a bit more settled and enjoy being along with FH for a year or 2.

will probably wait about 1 year. We want to enjoy time being married before any little kiddies come along. We will be together 9 year when we get married.

We've known each other just over a year and a half (though exclusively dating only maybe about a yaer). We'll be together a little less than 2 years when we get married (and engaged nine and a half months). But, hey, when you know, you know.

i agree..when you know you know!! my fiance and i have been dating for 8 months, engaged for 1 month so far...but not getting married for two years!!

I think sometimes FH wants a baby now ... I kept telling him if he get me prego before hte wedding i ll be so pisssed .. no at first he wanted a honeymoon baby ... but then he though about it and decided we should try and buy a house first (renting *****!!!!) before we have kids ... all l know is that i want kids by then time i'm 27 28 ... i want two ... ill be 25 when i get married .. turing 26 that year so it only leaves me with a couple years to do what i want ... oh and FH and i will be together a little over 2 years when we get married ...

We're probably going to wait 2-3 years.

I think couples should wait a few years & enjoy their new life together. We’ve been together for four years now there's no rush for us. So we’re thinking of waiting at least two years before we start trying. We want to have some free time to travel before we have a baby on our hip, lol!!!

For at least five years or more probably, we want to travel, build our new home and enjoy our life together first, then even see if we want kids.

We want kids asap. We have been together 3 years at engagement and then a little over four years after we are married. We also have been living together for 3.5 years. Yes we moved in together very quickly. For those of you who dont live with fh right now, I highly recommend living with each other for a year or so before having babies. Enjoy the time together, and get adjusted and set some rules. We both share everything from doing dishes to cooking and cleaning.

When it happens it happens lol thats how i look at it. But the sooner the better.

Re: How long are you going to wait after the wedding to try to get pregnant?

prbably at least 2-4 years. While I would love to have one sooner, I would like to be better off financially before we start our family. And I refuse to raise my kids in a home without a yard- like I would live in an apartment with them till they are two, but after that, I want to be living in a house not on a busy street and preferably in a development complex, so if we stay on LI- itll be like 20 years till we have kids, but if I can convince FH to move, we will wait lik 2-4 years. Unless we win the lotto- then Ill just start having them sooner! :)

I am hoping to try to get pregnant on my honeymoon. I have a 1 and a half year old daughter right now and I dont want them to be so far apart so that's what I'm aiming for!
