How long before closing?

when we signed the contract it said on or about June 15....we are scheduled to close June 30 at 2:00pm . Its within the thirty days of the date on the contract, I do know that.

Tomorrow is 30 days AFTER my on or about date. My closing date isn't even scheduled yet.

I'm told in a 'standard' contract the '30 days before/after the on or about date' is purely a courtesy.. Sellers can go beyond that if they have issues, or just dont want to close yet.

Thank goodness our seller is out of the house. Our daughter has to get registered for school. Goodluck to both of you. I'll pray that we all close soon.

How long before closing do you actually know when the closing date is? They said 'on or about July 15th,' but when would we find out the exact date/time?

Hey we have the same estimated closing date! Our laywer says that means we can close until Aug 15 and then exact date will be a combo of the mortgage paperwork and everyone's availability.

Unfortunately, just becuase they are out of the house doesnt mean it will go quickly. My house had an open permit but never got the approval for the CO. So we are waiting on the town to issue the paperwork.

We are lucky that the current homeowners had a reputable contracter do all the work to code. If it wasn't, they would have needed to bring it up to code, then have the inspector from the town come in, and do all the paperwork.

Whether they were in the house or not, this would have been a sticking point.

The current owners are moving to Florida, so won't even be up here for the closing...

We just found out on Monday that ours is June 30...and today we got the official letter that says this.

My mother is a retired administrator. She told me that they would let the children start the school year, even if the closing hadn't occuried yet, as long as they buyers showed them proof. (I think probably the contract would work. And they may have required a little more information. I am just remember what she told me.) She worked in the Connectquot District;a part of her job was determining whether children that wanted to attend school were a part of the district.
