My daughter's gown has come in but she thinks it's too soon to go for her 1st fitting. I'm anxious to see the gown (& her in it) & to be reassured that everyting is OK. Is now too soon if she's getting married in 7 months?

Re: How long before your wedding for 1st fitting?
It is a little too soon but there is no harm in going and trying the gown on. You need to make sure its the right gown, the right size and what she asked for. Also it doens't hurt to try it on while your there.

I think it depends on how much the dress needs to be altered. I think 2 months before the wedding is enough for minimal changes. My dress needs to be turned into a size 4 or 2 from an 8. I'm seeing my seamstress on 10/25, and then we will have more fittings starting about 3 months before my 9/23 wedding. I would ask the store/seamstress that you're working with.

My dress came in July for my November wedding. I went to the store to see it and try it on. I just went for my first fitting 2 days ago and my wedding is in 3 weeks.

I'd say 7 months is too soon to start fittings...but by all means, if she can go there just to try it on, then go and see!
I'd say that if there is a lot of work to be done on the dress than maybe start fittings 3-4 months before...but even that may be a bit early.

My Bridal salon told me that we'd start the fittings and whatever alterations needed the month before the wedding.
