How long did it take you...

to finalize your guest list?

I feel like I can't move forward with anything till I have a solid # to work from but we can't decide whether to say eff it and invite everyone, or be more strict and only invite people with a guest in certain scenarios, not invite distant cousins, etc....

a while... after we came up with an initial list, we immediately had to take a red pen to it and cut people since we were waaaay over what we were looking to do. I want to say in total, it took a few months for us to come to a final decision on the guest list. It hasn't changed much since then (maybe a cut here and an add there).

Not long.. Our original budget was for more people but then we figured that we can't invite everyone who's crossed our path. .. So we kept it small and made A, B, and C lists.. LOL

We knew we wanted under 100 ever since we spoke of the wedding. Then we realized we didn't want that many people, so we came to a happy number of 70. And voila! It's perfect.

Mine is 90% done, but we're still on the fence with some people, there are some people I realy wish i had not sent STDs to, and we're thinking about the A/B list situation.

It took us a full weekend to figure out the A list. Still haven't conquered the B list and sending out invites in April.

We are still working on it. Need to get from 3 sets of parents which makes it hard and FH doesn't want to do our final list until he gets theirs. My problem is I need to make my invites and send them out all withint the next month and a half.

we didnt take time or think about our budget....we have a 125 minimum but invited over 210

we have our full A list done (and we sent STDs to like 90% of them).

our B list, on the other hand, is a bit different. it's a lot of people that FFIL works with and people FH and I work with and some friends from college that we'd like to have there if we have the $$ for it.

This might help.
We made a list of everyone we would possibly want to invite, then cut it down in intervals.

People we haven't spoken to in 5 years.

3 years, ect.

We said no to kids.

Then we thought about who we absolutely could not imagine our day without. Anyone who was left went on the B list.

you just made me feel 1000% better since I'm june as well, albeit early june

I'm not finalized...we are trying to stay close to 100 (our minimum) as possible and it's getting sticky

I hear ya! We wanted to keep it at 125 (our minimum) but we are already sitting at 135 who we went STD's to and know of at least 30 more people we plan on inviting not including our parents' lists. I think this is the hardest part of planning so far.

Not too long....once we had a budget, we figured how many we could reasonably pay for and fit in our RH. Since I never wanted a big wedding, it was a lot easier! We booked a place with a minimum of 50, but can seat up to 140.

We ended up with an A list of 161 and a B list of 15 or so....about 20 more than I wanted. But we knew we had to get to at least 160, so that gave us 80 each. Then we each made our own exes....so he can answer to his parents when they complain and vice versa!
