How long did it take you to find your dress?
Hi ladies!I know I am behind schedule with finding a dress (my wedding is in less than 10 months), but I finally have some time next weekend to go. My question is, how long did it take you to find your dress? How many dresses did you try on? How many months before your wedding did you find/order your dress?
Thank you!

How long did it take you to find your dress?
My wedding is also in May 2015. I went to RK Bridal on July 7th, tried on 6 dresses and found the one there. I was absolutely dreading going, mostly because of my size. I ordered my dress that day and it is expected to arrive on Halloween, so a little over 3 months. If you go off the rack, which was my original intention, you have more leeway with time. But, I think if you go next weekend, you still have plenty of time.
Where do you plan to go?

I went to small boutique in Brooklyn called Lotus Bridal to have a more intimate experience see what types and styles fit my body best. I didn't find the one there so I ventured off to RK Bridal a much bigger selection of dresses, however I suggest you head to the smaller place first get an idea of what you're looking for then head to RK or Kleinfelds or whatever floats your boat. Took me approximately 2 stores to find the one. My wedding is Feb 2015 my dress was order July 2014 and I have an estimated arrival date of Nov. 4th therefore giving myself 3 months for alterations. Hope this helps and good luck dress shopping :)

I think you're timing is great! I think the people at the stores try to freak you out and tell you that you need more time, but they're just trying to get you to buy so you don't go elsehwere. I was told 8-10 months is ideal. I went just to look for the first time but ended up buying that first weekend I went looking. I went to 4 stores and tried on about 20 dresses in one weekend (Fri/Sat). You're fine!

Good to know! I will look into a smaller store first! There is actually one near my house I can try. This certainly helps thank you!

You still have some time! It took me 4 appointments to finally pull the trigger, but I had those appointments spread out over about 2 months. The bridal shops say it takes 8-10 months for dresses to come in, but mine is in already and only took 3!

I looked at a lot of dresses online and found one I love. I felt my options were limited because I'm short I'm 5'1 and a lot of dresses just swallowed me up. I tried on the one I was eyeing online followed by 5-6 more I ended up buying the one I had been looking at online. It was perfect for my short frame and it was everything I was looking for.

Wow that isn't bad! Did they tell you it would take 8-10 months and it came early? Or were you expecting it to come in 3 months?

How long did it take you to find your dress?
My wedding dress was the first dress I tried on! I only went to start looking, not thinking I would find 'the one'...I tried on about 7-8 dresses and kept going back to the first one. I ordered mine in March and it already came in(in July)..it was a lot faster than I thought!

I bought it at Elena's in Merrick but I also went to RK and Macy's in the city and Nouveau Bride and Bridal Reflections (Massapequa).
I actually did a review of all the places I shopped if you want to check it out. I highly recommend Elena's, although the store is pretty small. http://www.liweddings.com/chat/topic-dress-shopping-reviews-831513-1.html

How long did it take you to find your dress?
I started looking in April and didn't buy my dress until June. I tried on easily over 100 dresses though and went to over 10 stores. I know I am insane though and that is why I started looking somewhat early. You definitely have plenty of time still. When I ordered mine in June I was told it would be there in probably February and that was with a whole bunch of custom changes the designer is making.

For any of you looking to purchase at RK Bridal-- see if you can ask for Lisa. She is the only 'Lisa' working as a bridal dress consultant at the store. She is awesome!

How long did it take you to find your dress?
Exactly 55 minutes lol I went to one store tried on about 7-8 dresses and kept going back to the 2nd dress I tried on! I put in a deposit at that time (end of June for a July 2015 wedding) but I haven't been measured because I want to lose a few pounds before ordering...will probably order end of August. The woman said I could order as late as Thanksgiving if I wanted but thats too tight for my liking!

I had Celine. She wasn't my favorite. She was a little quiet and didn't seem to want to give the time and day (my sister was particularly irked by her). She did find the dress I ended up with though.

They do have a lot! It's a little overwhelming. I recommend, if you do go there, look at their site and print out the dresses you liked with the style number. They only had 1 of the 6 as a sample unfortunately, BUT they had so much to choose from in store. I had a feeling that the consultant got a feel for what I was looking for and that's how she found my dress.

I went to Davids to start looking and then was going to bridal reflections and I found a dress at davids....I knew exactly what I wanted and didn't want. It was the first dress I tried on and then after 20 more got the first one.

Re: How long did it take you to find your dress?
I think we started at the end of August and found it in September. But I found it at the second place we visited (Macy's in Manhasset) and it was the 8th dress I tried on. It arrived in January I think.Welcome New Vendors
