How long did it take you to go from...

initial offer to contract? I feel like this is taking forever. This part is just agony.... The lawyers are so damned slow and I am like, let's go already. I feel like it just needs to happen. I want to sign the contract so badly!!!

we made an offer at the end of arpil last year, signed the contract may8th and closed on july 25th - it was so stressful! the closing kept getting pushed back, because of the managing agent (we bought a co-op). if the agent had done everything on time, we would have closed mid-june.

I was really quick -which I don't think is the norm - about 5-6 weeks from offer to close. (Oh - from accepted offer to signed contract was about a week - with inspection in between) But the sellers were totally pushing a lot along and asking us too and DH works for a major bank and we didn't have any mortgage issues. It was one of the things that were appealling to the sellers - we could move fast. We closed the end of May and our contract stated on and around June 1st. I guess you can call it lucky - but we weren't in a rush - actually we had the owners pay our rent for a month because I was still on a lease!

We made our offer and signed the sales agreement the Thursday before Memorial Day (May 20th I think?), and we are signing the contract tomorrow night. I thought things should have been moving along more quickly...The real estate agent we were dealing with was slow in getting the contracts to the lawyers...I actually wound up calling the head of the agency and she faxed the contracts to my lawyer today, he read them over and we sign tomorrow after he irons out the details with the other lawyer.

ETS: Our closing is listed as on or about Aug. 1

I feel the same as you. If you read all my posts, we have a delayed closing so its even more stressful. I am so excied and anxious and I want to move in. Soon enough.

I think ours is probably longer than most but we made our offer on Feb 12th and had o ur inspection on Feb 21st, we are closing tomorrow and taking possession on Saturday. So for us its exactly 4 months!
