Mine is a long story. Lots of ups and downs, I never, never want to do it again. I know we will in the future, but not in the near future.
Anyway, we started looking in August 2001 and closed on our house on July 16, 2002. So a year.
But in that year we had 3 contracts on 3 separate houses (the second one we were supposed to build, but that fell through) then we finally found the fourth house and it worked out. I believe everything happens for a reason and we found the house we are supposed to be in.

Well over a year. We ended up purchasing back in Oct '01.

We looked for a really long time. We would look in the papers on Fri., and go to open houses on Sat. and Sun. in the areas that we liked.

We went to contract in March (2 days before our wedding!!) and moved in the end of July. We looked for a few months before.

For us only 4-5 months but we found our home pretty quick in the process and rushed the close (based on owner's request) and our first bid on a house went thru (after some negotiating of couse but we found owner's in a rush to move!). We had planned on not seroiusly looking for a few more months - we were kind fof just seeing what was out there when we found a home we didn't want to pass up!

We were always looking per se, but we began to seriously look in late July-August and we found our home in Sept. (labor day weekend) and we closed on Nov. 15..

About 5 months, but the seller's had to rent from us for 2 months until their new house was built. We were also lucky and found a house right away!
Plus, the market here is a lot different here than there!

We had been casually looking for several years before we bought! At first we were looking at condos and our bid was accepted on one. When that deal fell through, we took another look at what we wanted in the future, and decided to look for a home.
The home search probably took more than a year. We bid on our house at the end of June 2000, and closed in October 2000. The seller dragged her feet for so long, or else we could've been in the house sooner.

3 1/2 months, but we did a lot of prep work and found a great house on our 2nd week looking.

About eight months from when we started to seriously shop to our move in date (we'd been house hunting for fun for years). The sellers were motivated, our mortgage shopping was easy, and we had a great lawyer who really stepped in to move the process along.
