I'm booking several appointments for reception halls in one day, and I don't know how far apart in time to space them . . . Can you tell me about how long you spend at each hall, looking around, discusssing menu/pricing, etc?

it really depends. i would say 45 minutes to an hour is a good judge

You'll probably spend somewhere between 45-60 minutes at each hall--looking around at the grounds (more time depending on how big the place is), meeting with the banquet manager, looking through photo albums and menu choices, etc. We looked at as many as 5 in one day which was exhausting but at least we were able to compare them to each other with the memory fresh in our minds.

it takes about 30 minutes to 45 minutes with each caterer. Let me know if you need advice on where to go in LI. FM me

yes, 45min to an hour is a good estimate. i have been looking at reception halls for the past 2 weekends, and that's approx. how long each appointment takes.
usually the business manager would take you for a tour of the place, explaining which one is the cocktail room, which one is the ballroom and how everything will be set up. then you'd go to their office and they'd sit you down and go through the $$, menu and whatever questions you might have!

some appointments i wanted to walk out after five minutes and others i stayed at for about an hour or even two hours. but that only happend at two places. otherwise the average was about 45 min. I went to 15 places. good luck

we only looked at 2 places..we went to NRC twice, once to look and ocn with my parents when we ultimately bookedit. the first time at NRC was an hour and a half, they really take thier time and answer every questions, we looked at riviera, which took 20 minutes because it's a musch smaller palce, she didn't really show us any photos or really go through much with us, plus we knew we weren;t going to book it, so we didn't ask too many questions, and the BM didn't seem to want to answer them. The second trip t NRC was over 2 hours!

I went with 30 - 40 minutes for the ones I was so so on, and an hour for the ones I was interested. You should look at the LI wedding sites magazine, you can get it at fortunoff or at book stores, that is how I made initial eliminations.
