How long do you and FH want to wait for...

How long are you and FH 'planning' on waiting to have kids?

For those already married: how long did you plan on waiting and did you hold out (meaning, did you wait that long or did your time frame change??)

FH is thinking about 3 years...I'm thinking 2..I'd like to have our first before 30

FH and I have agreed to wait until he graduates law school in 2006.

I want to start very soon after being married. I'm Ready. But- We need a house first.. definatly. I want get get all of my child bearing done by 30 also.

I don't know how long, but definitely at least 2 years. We want to enjoy ourselves before we start having kids. We'll only be 26 when we get hitched, so we have a few years before the 3-0 mark (which is when I would like to have kids by.) We had originally thought we would start sooner, but after much thought, we just want to have fun being newly married since we wont' have the chance to just be selfish with eachother again after kids.

I'll be 29 and FH will be 33 when we get married so we're both ready now, but we want to enjoy a year as husband and wife and then try for kids.

I would like them right away. But we need a house first so we will probbaly wait 1-2 years.

We were just talking about this.
Probably at least 4-5 years. After we open our winery, then we will talk about it.

Probably about 4-5 years as well... we're 22, so we want time to spend with eachother. We just got a dog, so that's enough of a kid for now:)

As of right now we are both leaning towards NO CHILDREN AT ALL and if we do decide to have them, it will be AT LEAST 3-4 years after we are married (and only because of those damn biological clocks!) . I'm in no rush to have children at all. I want to enjoy my life with just my husband.

I used to think about 2 years. But just this morning we were talking about baby names, and his favorites are:
Chadmyer (FH: 'We'll call him Chad')
and
Charlemagne (FH: 'But he'll just be called Charlie')
and
Seamus (but neither of us is Irish)

So now I think we will wait until someone knocks some sense into FH....

we are so torn over that question. if we had it our way, we would start right after we get married, but financially we are in no position to have a family. fh is already 30, so we want to get a move on having children, but we are also realistic, in that LI is a hard place to bring up a family $$$!!!

JimmysBride I agree w/you. We are planning to not have children. We are happy with each other. Now a days people really think about whether or not they want to have children and I think that is smart.

We will both just be 27 when we get married & I want to wait about 2 years--FH wants to wait like 4!!! I still have to work on that!

FH and I are not sure if we want to have children. If I was pressed to answer I would have to say no. FH is going to be 40 he feels he is to old to start a family.
