how long do you think...

My parents met in May. were engaged in June, were married in August.

They were together for 25 years before my dad passed away from cancer in 08. They were insanely happy and in love and would only fight over money..

soo...

How long do you think you have to be dating someone, before you get engaged? To really know they are 'THE ONE'

It depends. For some it can be a few months, for others it could be years. For me personally, we knew around the one year mark, but didn't get engaged until 3 years.

FH and I got enagaged after 14 months

but I think we knew within 3 months we were both in for the long haul LOL

i also think it depends. FH and I knew within the first month that this was it...but we didnt get engaged till after a year and a half of dating.

FH and I have only been dating for 3 months. Weird right? haha. We know this is it. I've been engaged before, and wasnt half as in love as I am right now and our families are so super supportive. We've gotten some weird responses from people who dont know us tho lol

i knew he was the one after like 2 weeks, i would have definitely been engaged in a year if i was the one buying the ring! he is a lot slower.

We knew almost right away. We were engaged one year to the day we met. We both were married previously and knew this was different.

My grandpa got engaged to my grandmother within 2 weeks of meeting her. They were married within 2 months. They were together until the day she passed away and he never stopped loving her even after she was gone.

My parents and his parents got engaged after 4 months and lasted.

We knew right away. We were talking marriage after 3 months. Got engaged a year to the day that we met :)

it really does depend... when you both know you just know. FH and I were dating about 1 1/2 years when he proposed but we both knew that this was it for us long before he asked.

it really depends on the people involved... some people know from day 1... others are a little more jaded and have commitment phobia... so it'll take a little longer...

i was with my FH for over 7 years before he asked... and even if he didn't ask... i would have still been happy.

i remember meeting FH when i was dating someone else- and going home that night to tell a friend that he was the one--- i just knew instantly!
it was crazy

so nice when you finally just know that this is how its supposed to be!

were such lucky girls!!

It all depends...
for my Fh and I we knew within the first month... we knew what we felt... but got engaged 1year after we started dating...

im so glad you girls all feel the same way! some people (like my brothers) think its way too soon for us to be engaged. But honestly, I dont want to wait another second to be married and start a family with FH. If he would give in and elope with me tomorrow, i would do it and not look back. (minus my mom not being there)

i don't think you can really *know* until after a year at least, sometimes it takes longer. For those people who say they *knew* after a few months.... they're really just lucky that both people were being honest, and being themselves. If they weren't they probably would have started to see the true person around 10-12 months into the relationship. Some people don't get comfortable in a relationship for years other people have no problem being themselves from the get go and not playing games, so i guess people can say they *know*. Looking back I thought I *knew* right after I met FH but i realize now its cause we were both ourselves, a lot of people change drastically (in a negative way) over the course of a relationship, we haven't.
