how long does candy last?

how long does candy last?

I'm considering doing a candy buffet at the wedding as an additional favor to the donation favor... Since this can get expensive to buy all at once, I was thinking of starting to buy it as it goes on sale -- or when I see things that would match my theme -- like the pink M&Ms they have now for breast cancer awareness.... I'd love to have those next July since the donation will be a cancer charity of some sort.

How long does candy keep? Would I need to store it in the fridge?

i guess it depends on the kind of candies. i bought most of my candy as i saw it on sale. i kept it all in my cool basement... to avoid melting chocolate. i think that as long as you don't open the bags they come in, you should be ok.

hard candy keeps well for a long time. chocolates, you might have to freeze. but m&ms have the candy shell, so i didn't freeze.

You shouldn't freeze chocolate. It makes the cocoa butter seperate and gives the chocolate a grayish cast. It doesn't look very appetizing! I would stick with hard candies if you don't have a cool place to store the chocolate.
