How many months prior did your BMs purchase their dresses?
I'm thinking of buying them in January for my May 26, 2007 wedding. Do you think that is ok?

Started to look in mid October - was ready to order then
Ordered first week of December (because 2 BMs had given birth recently)
Came in last week of March

my wedding is in may, but i'm finalizing my order this month. I was quoted 4 months, I know my bridesmaid will probably need alterations so i planned ahead to be safe.

I say order now. Many places I dealt with say the beginning of the year is a busy time because they have proms and summer weddings. Most places say 4-6 months anyway.

We ordered them in June- and they just came in.
So about 5-6 months is OK - m ay cut it close though. Depends on the salon.

It usually does take about 12 weeks. However, you have to think about time for alterations and of course if anything goes wrong.
