So we're talking about TTC. More than talking, actually, today is my first day off the pill and my OB/GYN said I should wait at least two periods before we start to try.
For those of you already expecting - how long were you trying before you were positive?
For those still TTC, how long have you been trying?
I keep hearing the average couple tries for 6 months before they concieve, but that seems like a really long time!!
Thanks!! We're not telling anyone that we are trying yet, so you girls are my only non-medical resource/outlet!!

Thanks ladies.
At least I know what to expect better.
I guess I had it in my head that if you wanted to get pregnant all you had to do was try a couple times. All those teenage pregnancy warnings about only having to do it once must have stuck!!
Good luck to all of you too - baby dust all around!!

Re: How long have you been trying/did you try?
My Dr said we could start trying as soon as I went off the pill (you are supposed to be very fertile that 1st month of going off the pill).
We have been trying for 1 year now

I went off the pill in April, then we decided to throw caution to the wind and do the 'whatever happens, happens' in October and wouldn't ya know, I get knocked up on our first try!

3 time was a charm! But I went off the pill in Mid June, and the Dr. told me also to wait 2 periods before trying.

Re: How long have you been trying/did you try?
We 'actively' tried for about six months - using ovulation kits, making usre to baby dance on peak ovulation days, etc but we didn't get pg. So we decided to take a break and start trying again when we went away in November.
Well, wouldn't you know I got pregnant in October, right after stocking up on Always pads that were on sale at Waldbaums! I jinxed myself! (in a good way).
So I guess all together we were TTC for 9 months. My doctor told me that he wouldn't consider fertility testing until you've been actively trying for over 1 year.

Havent started TTC yet so I can't answer any of these questions...
But, I am curious.... Does anyone know why some docs tell you to wait 2 periods after going off the pill?
Good luck to all!

it's so your cycle can adjust itself and you can track it and so the hormones get out of your system, my cycle never became regular..I fluctuated between 28-36 days
