How long is the gap between your ceremony and your reception?
Original post by busybee705
I have a 3 hour gap.
What will my guests from Jersey do after the ceremony? I don't know if they're familiar with Queens, and my house is too small to accomodate them?
I don't want them following me to Planting Fields, so what do you suggest?

Ceremony at 4pm, reception at 6:30. I think my guests will just find something local to do...honestly, I didn't make any sort of accomodations for local folks. I figured they'll just walk around Huntington Village for a bit and pre-game.

Ceremony 12:30 CH 1:00 Reception 2:00
Everything is being done at the hall, so no travel is involved (except from one room to the next).

I've got the ceremony at 3 and cocktail hour at 7. I am hoping that most people will take that time to go and check into their hotel. I guess I'll also let them know there is a bar available near the reception that they can stop at on the way.

Church Ceremony 2:30 (1 hr long) Cocktail Hour 7:30
4 hr gap
I am very upset about it too!!!!
I have the same gap. My dad is going to have something back at the house for whoever wants to come. OOT guests can either go to that or if they are staying at the hotel they can go and check in.

Our ceremony was at 5 and the reception started at 8. Most people either went to the hotel or went to a local bar. I was really worried but it turned out to be not a problem at all.

The guests will find ways to amuse themselves.

Re: How long is the gap between your ceremony and your reception?
I don't mind having the gap. It gives me time to take pictures @ Planting Fields and @ the reception hall.
My parents are going with us to the garden. And even if they aren't, I don't think they can host more than 20 guests at our place.
What I'm afraid is that these people will either a) follow us to the garden or b) skip the ceremony and go straight to Leonard's.
FH suggested that an usher or a family member suggest to the guests to go to Queens Mall or watch a movie, but should we provide directions for them too?
