Re: how long is too long
from what ive heard, proper etiquette says 6months to a year after you receive the gift when having to do with a wedding is the latest....but as long as she sends one, it really shouldnt be an issue

Well I just mailed mine out last week, so that was 7 months... and people had already started to talk. Mostly the older folks though... the ones who are more traditional. I think the younger generation realizes that most people have to wait for pro pics and it takes a lot longer. IMO, I wouldn't wait any longer than 9 months. When it starts getting close to a year it's a little long.

I actually heard that proper etiquette was to send them within 2-4 months after the wedding at the latest. I'm actually not geting mine from the photographers b/c I've heard they're notorious about taking a long time and I don't want ppl to get offended if they don't receive theirs in an appropriate amount of time. JMO, but I think it should be sooner.

I wanted to get mine done by the new year. I had previously heard that you have a year b/c people have a year to send you a gift. IMO that's just too long. You lose motivation to do them. And it's such a relief when you are done I say 2-4 months tops.
I didn't wait for my photographer since It's been almost 2 months and still no proofs... the lab says another 2 weeks.

Proper etiquette states that you should send them out within 3 months of the marriage. We decided to not do photo cards for this reason and instead bought monogrammed plain cards to send out instead. We got all our notes out by the 3 month mark.
