How Long Is/Was Your DJ List

I was just wondering how long people's DJ lists are- I was going to fax my DJ a list and just counted- I wrote 36 'please play' songs down, and that's separate from a few slow songs and dinner music.

I don't want to seem like a control freak, but I'm specific about music- just wondering if anyone else had a lot of requested songs.

as of now mine ha like 50..i know its a bit much but i figure he is going to miss some anyway so just give it all to him and hope he plays most

We are giving our band 40 songs.

I'm splitting mine into 3 lists because I had too many... the first list is my MUST MUST play list. The second is the 'we'd like to hear these' list. The third list is 'songs we also like'. I hope to hear all the first, many of the second, and whatever of the third will fit right and keep people moving.

I think they use the list to figure out your style of music...and might stray a little depending on the crowd's reaction.

We're only giving about 5 MUST play songs. If I went crazy I'd probably end up with 100!!!!

we're not giving too many.. we are giving names of singers and groups we like so that they get the right idea..

My best friend gave me advice....she told me not to be too structured with the DJ or Band. She went to two weddings that hired the same DJ. One couple had a lot of requests and must play songs....the other did not. the one that was more structured....had terrible reviews. The one that was not, had people pack the dance floor all night.

So...know your crowd...although you like certain things, you're playing for the party atmsphere.
That being said, we're having a vocalist, so I will give him a few songs to sing...and I am send the DJ a list of radio stations and artists me like with a few examples of the songs...but nothing too extensive... they're the professionals.

I only gave them like 3 do not plays and nothing to def play...just types of music. They are professionals and in my opinion if I gave them an extensive list then I might as well just have gotten an ipod and made a playlist and hired a MC.

I think its most important to give the DO NOT PLAY list and then just some names of artists you like/ genres you like.
I only have about 5 must play songs and if I had more songs than that on the list, I really don't know if I'd notice if some were not played.
Also don't ask for too many slow songs!
