How long will it take...

How long will it take...

I want to plan some time to assemble my invites and also print the envelopes. Does anyone have any ideas on how long this might take? Figure 125 invites all together, and we'd have to print the inner and outer envelopes.

THANKS!

Re: How long will it take...

I just did this yesterday!!!!!! My sister and I did about 95 (don't have FHs yet) invites (inner and outer) and 90 menus. It took about 3 1/2 hours. The longest part was deciding which fonts to use.

If you are good with the computer it shouldn't take too long. I am not good at all but my sister is a WIZ!!

Good Luck

I would leave yourself a month, that way you could take your time and do a couple each day.

THANK YOU! I wasn't sure if it would take all day, or if I could have my mom over after dinner and bang them out then. We're both IT people, so hopefully we'll be able to figure it out, but I make no promises... sometimes it's the simple stuff like which way the envelope faces when you feed it to the printer that gets all of us! Tee hee hee!

Thanks Kelly, I wish I had a month. But the semester at grad school is just ending this w/e, and I need to get them out by the end of May. I would have started them earlier but school, work, house, and running didn't leave me the time! Oops!

Re: How long will it take...

The longest part was getting it set up right. I gave FH a week to donwload the appropriate font and get everything set up so they could just be printed out. WE spent aabout 3-4 hours printing inners and outers, a little on Friday night, then the rest on Saturday afternoon. We then spent a few hours on Sunday printing out direction cards. Over the next week, I made sure everything was alphebetized and I numbered all of the response cards. My mom and I spent an hour one afternoon stamping everything. THen the following Saturday (this past weekend) we spent maybe 2-3 hours stuffing and sealing them. We did it like an assemble line. I stacked, FH stuffed, and Mom sealed. We also announced the name as we were doing it to make sure the inner and outer envelopes and the number on the response cards all matched. Now they are all boxed and ready to be mailed on Friday.

Sorry this is so long. The best advice I can give is to spread it out so you don't get overwhelmed. Spend a few hours each day completing one task rather than doing the whole thing in one day. Also, be prepared to have unexpected extra invites come up. We completely ran out and we (or should I say FMIL) came up with 2 more people to invite!

For those that printed your own envelopes, did you have liner in your inner envelopes? We have a semi-thick liner, and I am worried that the envelopes will get jammed in the printer if we decide to do it ourselves....

Re: How long will it take...

Yes, mine had liner. We were nervous but there were NO problems. Not one envelope (inner and outer) got messed up (and I ordered 25 extras)
