How mad would you be? Update for you all on pg 2- especially DjPILL.

Original post by Sunny

I am trying to decide how mad I should be.

Today dh and I supposed to go on the ferry to Connecticut to babysit my 1 yr old niece. I have been looking foward to this.
Dh went out last night and I asked him please don't stay out all night so you are not too tired saturday.

He came stumbling in at 2:30am, so very drunk, and passed out. He has been up since 5am throwing up.

So, now I have to go to Con by myself, or bring him and let him be miserable (and miserable company). He swears he will be ok by the (3:00).

I almost feel like he is being punished enough (almost).
But why last night of all nights did he have to drink SO much?

So, how mad would you be?

Hahahahahah. Well i'll admit... I said what I said to see more or less what kind of reaction I would get. Kinda to rile you ladies up. I can be a little sarcastic at times. Its all in good fun.

Honestly - fine then do it on a post like Octgroom does, put up a poll or debate but to be honest when someone is looking for advice or support it is inappropriate IMO!!!

Mike knew about this for quite awhile, he does see his friends often. Mike is a GREAT guy but this was not the day for him to get pissed drunk!

I don't know about you, but my DH would not be thrilled about me driving to Conn. all by myself. He would be nervous, about the car breaking down etc- just another reason Mike needs to get his but into gear.

I'd be pissed. It's annoying that now you have to go by yourself. I wouldn't take him with you, not for his sake but for your brother/ sister. I wouldn't want anyone hung over near my 1 year old. As long as he doesn't make it habit and he doesn't do it again, I would let it go, after throwing a (small) fit about how unfair to do what he did.

I'd be pretty mad. But I'd go by myself since he'd be miserable company. Give him some chores to do while your gone.

I'd be fuming!!!!!

I'm sorry that happened to you. I don't know what to tell you to do but I had a similar experience. I finally had to sit DH down and tell him that while I know he likes to go out and drink with the guys, when I ask him to not go crazy it's for a specific reason and when he doesn't stop drinking it upsets and disappoints me because it makes me feel like he doesn't consider my requests or feelings. Of course I got the whole 'that's not true, I do, it just happened, blah blah blah' but it has yet to happen again.

I have to agree with DJPiLL to some extent - in the big picture, it's not that big a deal.

I would be more hurt and disappointed that he didn't respect our plans, but anger doesn't get you anywhere. And he did offer to keep his end of the bargain by coming along as promised. He screwed up, he's sorry, and he's trying to do his best to make it right - be happy with that instead of trying to punish him.

Well that doesn't mean that what I originally said about it being not so big a deal was BS. I still believe that. I just exaggerated it a bit I guess.

And the OP was looking for advice... and I gave it. I said frankly its not that big a deal as people on here are preaching.

Karen H said it best. Yeah you can be pissy about it and cry for days and punish him LOL... but whats the point? Yeah he screwed up, but he offered to make better on it. Thats what counts.

I know nobody will admit it... and I told my girl about this story and we both agreed that it sounds like the OP might be a little pissed that he went out and had a good time and she was sitting home. But thats another story, another topic, another debate.

My advice for now is... just let it pass.

I'd be really pissed if I'd specifically asked him not to do that and he did it anyway. It's just very inconsiderate, not to mention a little childish.

I don't think I would care as long as he was not trying to get out of going with me to babysit. My DH does this once in a while and it is not so much that he is trying to disrespect me or ignore my feelings - but he loses track of time when he is drinking with his friends.

My DH doesn't complain much when he has his hang over headaches, because he knows he wont get much sympathy from me. Especially if I asked him to come home early and he stayed out late anyway

Re: How mad would you be?

Ok- here is an update- I just remembered this post.

I had dh read it and we laughed about it together. The day turned out fine, he really was okay by 3, and we had a nice night with my niece.

Thank you all for your support and understanding!

For djpill-
I understand your point of view and I don't. I am glad that dh goes out with his friends, I know it makes him happy and that makes me happy. I was not jealous that I was home alone that night- actually, I had a nice dinner out with a friend and was completely content. Any other night that he came home like that I would laugh and put him to bed.

The point was that it was THAT night in particular that he chose to get wrecked. He does go out with his friends on a regular basis, and very rarely comes home drunk. My point was why that night?

So, all is well now, we had fun reading this post together, and dh says thanks to djpill for sticking up for him.

Hahahahaha I made the subject. I thought I was gonna flamed to hell when I saw the revised topic.

Its all good. Tell him I said no problem. Us guys have to stick up for each other.

Glad it all worked out. I knew it wouldn't be a major issue!

It did work out. I never meant it to be a major issue, just an argument (which I still think was deserved )

I wasn't about to divorce him or anything.....
