How many????

How many????

I am looking for reasonably priced invitations and i am wondering how many I actually should get if there are mostly couples attending shouldn't the invitation order be half the number of guests?

I'm seeing people order 100-150 invitations and I'm wondering if I'm thinking incorrectly or they are just having large weddings?

Also on the lists on each kind of card, invitation, response card, etc what the heck is an informal card?

I would order a little more than half of your guest list. I'm sure not everyone is a couple and you'll need to send some to your single guests. And yes, some people have large weddings and need 100-150 invitations.

As for your other question, I found this:Informal Cards

Yes it should be about half of your guest list, but remember some guest might be single guest without a guest maybe. Order some extra for mistakes & last minute guests. My invite list was 186 & we ordered 100. We only need about 86 invitations. Sorry, but I don't know what the informal card is.

yes, order a little more than half. I ordered 125 for 104 invitations. A few of the ones I received had stray marks or dirt so I didn't mail them. I had to write out 3 of my envelopes and made about 7 mistakes so I was definitely glad to have extras.

I had 249 on my list and sent 130 actual invites out. I did DIY invites from ACMoore and it cost me less than $100!!!! They came out beautiful (if I don't say so myself lol)

The best thing you can do is to actually make a guest list ... and then count the # of households that you have to mail it to.

The '1/2 your guestlist' rule doesn't always work .... the # would be higher if you have a lot of singles, and the # would be lower if you have a lot of families. Keep in mind that an Aunt, Uncle & 2 cousins is 4 people but only 1 invitation.

Also, you want to have about 10 - 15 extra invitations. Those will come in handy when you have last minute additions, or a mis-addressed envelope that you need to send out a replacement invitation.

And if you are addressing the envelopes yourself, or having hand calligraphy done, you'll need to order 25 extra envelopes for errors.

If you're looking for inexpensive invites, I highly recommend Costco! I'm serious! We ordered our invites, response card, etc and were so happy. They came in in less than a week too.

Our invites were around $190 for 125 invites, envelopes, response cards, etc. These were ours:

They're not as fancy as others, but worked for us!

We are inviting about 170 (if we go onto the B-list) and we need 100 invites, so I really do not think the half plus a little applies to everyone.

I think informal cards are kinda like personal stationery. You can write personalized notes to your guest.
