How many...

How many...

people do you think I should invite to a 'mini destination' wedding?

FH & I are from Western Nassau where a good deal of our family & friends are located. However, there are others spread out throughout the island. We are about an hour away from our RH in Conneticut.

There's also about 100 out of town guests (including those in the bridal party), so they would have to travel if they were coming regardless (they're primarily from PA & Florida with sprinklings of MA, NJ, and west coasters.

We have a 300 person minimum, do you think inviting 350 would be a good number to invite? There would still be near 100 people on our B list if we did 350, so we do have room where we could invite others.

We won't be heartbroken if we don't meet our minimum since we have a good deal and we'll know that we'll get extras, but we would like to TRY and reach it and also keep it somewhere right around that 300 mark.

GR so i wrote this whole long response and it got deleted..gr

but ya they say about 20 % say no, so if you're aiming for 300 i would invite around 380, maybe even a few more if a lot are oot

Re: How many...

even though we are getting married on long island most of our guests have at least an hour drive and same as you, others spread between neighboring states and far away states.

Most of those who have a lot of traveling and are close family all ready know our date even though we didn't send official save the dates (thanks to the big mouths on our mothers) so they all ready are kinda planning for the trip.

we are still going for the 20% don't show... If you invite 350 and 20% don't show, that's only 280 guests. If you are worried about not meeting the 300 minimum, then I would definately invite about min of 360 or maybe even 10-20 more if you feel they won't do the traveling.

We definately told ourselves we would not invite more than the max the room can hold (or we can afford) just in case, on the rare chance, they all showed.

Hope this helps

I don't think an hour away is bad at all. I live in very Western Nassau County and so going to a wedding in Suffolk County is almost that far away for me!

ITA.... to be safe. If you aren't comfortable with that number...in case most say YES... then invite the 350 and keep a B list close at hand.

Hope this helps
