slow dances typically take place during a wedding reception?
My FH and I are not agreeing on this- I said maybe 2 or 3 at most. He wants more. I feel like they clear the dance floor if there are too many?

I feel like 2 or 3 is plenty. you want to have a fun party! too many slow dances will slow it down too much, JMO

Re: How many...
well not including the First Dance and the 2 parent dances, I would do no more than 1-2 IMO. I agree with previous post, people want to get out there and move.

Re: How many...
I'm not too sure. I would say ask your DJ/band and they probably know. With the first dance, mother/son, and father/daughter I probaly would do about 3-4. While people want to dance, couples like to slow dance and it gets the older people up to dance more then the slow songs.

3 is the lucky number I think! Maybe 4.

Re: How many...
3 sounds good but I usually see 2 at most including the first dance.

Re: How many...
Had to think about this... but outside of the 'Special' dances, I think most weddings have 3 slow dances - one usually towards the end of the evening.

FH and I planned on four (4) songs we are picking as Must-Plays for our day.

Re: How many...
I personally want a few. FH and I went to a wedding where they had just one and that was the only time FH and I danced. FBIL/FSIL had a few at their wedding and I remember FBIL asking me to dance and I was honored he did... it was a nice mix... everyone kinda cut in and they made it a point to dance with all family members (big families on each side).
But I do think its more a personal preference. and it depends on the crowd.
If you're going more for an all night party then limit it to 2 or 3. If you're going for a more intimate celebration- do a few more

I think you are right on this. More than three will definitely put a damper on the party mood. Older people may get up more with for slow dances though. Totally depends on what your priority is.

Re: How many...
I'd say 3 tops (excluding the first dance/parent dance). It does clear the dance floor and makes single people feel awkward.

I'd say 3 is good. You want the music to been upbeat and lively, at least I do anyway

Re: How many...
We had 3, one at the start of the reception, another one right after dinner and the last song to conclude the reception. Typically, 2-3 should be more than enough.
