Re: How many Brides NOT doing Receiving Lines?????
IF I do one, it'll be at the church. My mom wants me to do this.... FH and I, after ceremony walk down the aisle, then bridal party, then WE go back down the aisle and 'release' the rows, greeting everyone as they leave. I have not seen this done here, only in the midwest. P.S. my mom lives in Illinois. I am sort of against it b/c 1-I am afraid guests will not know what's going on, 2-not everyone will be at the church 3-It's going ot take some time to do this. FH doesn't want to miss any of the CH.
So, IF we do one, it'll be a 'quick' one in the back of the church.

Re: How many Brides NOT doing Receiving Lines?????
me! me! I just hate the idea. Our ceremony and reception are in the same place, and there is only 130 guests who will all be out for the whole weekend - so I do not think it is neccesary.
Plus, it eats up so much time, and people are always selfish who want to steal you for a few extra minutes, and people on line get bored!
We are having a six hour cocktail party, so there will lots of time for hugging!

Re: How many Brides NOT doing Receiving Lines?????
Yeah, we figured that since we're going to attend our Cocktail Hour (where we can chat & mingle with our guests), we'd pass on the receiving line, don't want to miss precious sunset time for photo opportunities!!! (Weather pending ).

I wanted one, but we can't do it. We are getting married at the reception hall and we have too may guests. We would never make it to the reception.

Re: How many Brides NOT doing Receiving Lines?????
we did one at the church and i am SO HAPPY we did it because i got to thank every guest right off the bat. even though i had a smaller affair i STILL didn't get to talk to everyone and i would have felt awful not having the receiving line.
the line was both sets of parents, me and DH. our guest count was about 95 so it was manageable. if we got married at the same place and/or had 150+ guests i would have had to reconsider...

We're not, but I'm still hesitant, I don't want people to get insulted. I can't worry though. Another option is to just have the bride and groom only in the receiving line. It goes much quicker than with parents and BP. We will greet at the CH which 1 1/2 hours.

I'm not. We'll be circulating among the guests during the cocktail hour and reception. We're having the reception immediately after the ceremony so we don't have time for a receiving line.

Re: How many Brides NOT doing Receiving Lines?????
We're not. I am going to be so excited, i don't want to bother!! LOL But for real, we have to get right out and be on our way for pictures. We are getting married in Wantagh and are going to planting fields for pictures. Plus, why greet everyone twice?!!? I know we are going to have a lot of people who aren't going to be @ the reception, but that's not my fault!!!
the only reason i feel bad not having it is for my parents--but people will congratulate them while they are waiting for us to come out!

One of my friends did this (hmmn, but thinking about it they got married in Michigan). He said it was great because they got to individually speakto the guests. He said it didn't take to long.
