i'm 25 (for a few more weeks at least) and FH is 27...we went to high school together so i've known him for about 10 years. My parents will definitely be helping us a lot with the cost b/c they're awesome, so we really lucked out on that.

We've only just started the whole planning process but budget will definitely be an issue...i'm a big fan of whatever do-it-yourself stuff we can do (invitations, centerpieces) and just keeping it all pretty simple. Definitely try being open to when you have your wedding (season, day of week, time of day) and look for RH's that have inclusive package deals (centerpieces, dj, etc)

I'm 23 (but will have just turned 24 by the time my wedding comes around in 12 wks) and FH is 28.

We're paying for this completely and totally on our own as well. Everybody already gave you great advice on here. I basically tried to cut down on the big expensive things. Like my DJ and Photographer - i booked people i know rather than the usual vendors that charge a few hundred or thousand more than my people do. And they do a great job. It's not like somebody i just pulled off the street. So that saved a TON! Also i'm doing the Centerpieces and Favors on my own. Saved a few hundred there. Doing muffs for my BP instead of Flowers (partly because i like them a lot better than flowers, but they also cost less - which is a definitely plus). We kept the list down also. There were probably a ton of people I would have invited if i could, but we decided to stick with only family and close friends. Still 100 people, but it woulda def been more! Ummmm... can't think of anything else at the moment. Winter is the best month too - try for a Sunday.

FH and I are 23 and completely 100% financially responsible for our wedding. Our families DID give our siblings a generous amount of $$$ which took care of a huge chunk of their weddings, but we have a pretty good feeling we won't be seeing the same unfortunately. Our parents just don't have it this time around... in the end maybe it's better that way we are fully in charge of everything and anything that goes on!

To cut costs we booked for one of the cheapest months, January, and if you do it on a Friday, Sunday, or during the week, and even have a day wedding, it'll cut costs that much more!! We are doing a lot of DIY's and keeping it all very very simple. Sometimes weddings can be just as beautiful nice and simple and with your own personal touch. It's a lot more time and work doing a lot of DIY's but whatever, it helps.

FH and I are both 24, but we'll be 26 when we get married. We've been together for eight years, so I understand. :) We're high school sweet hearts. I think it's a nice thing to marry your young love, just be sure that you are growing together, learning as you go, and compromising with each other (giving to get). Good luck to you!

when we got married, I was 25 and DH was 23. We had our wedding on a thurs. night which really cut costs while still allowing us to have it at a beautiful RH. And everyone we invited that was important to us still came even though it was a weeknight. We also did candles and rose petals instead of floral centerpieces.

im 23 FH is 26 - we live together so we have those expenses plus the wedding....we are paying for it all ourselves - we 'tried' to keep the cost down BUT we didn't its rough, we have 65 days to go and we still owe out around 10K (probably a little more - eek! acutally def more since we didnt book limo and the shuttle yet! yikes!) - i plan on making some payments starting next week so that everything is paid in full by the wedding

I am also doing my own candle cp instead of flower ones - that will save a TON of money!

well i was 24 and Dh was 26 when we got married.

We paid for a good 90% off the wedding. My mom did help my purchasing my dress and paying for my flowers and giving us the deposit for the photographer, but besides that we paid for everything.

we cut out several things to keep our cost down, we did our wedding in march which was considered off season, which got us many discounts with the hall, the limo and djs. We didnt do floral centerpieces. We had no cry packets, slipper baskets, etc. We also did MANY DIY which cut cost too.

Good Luck, if you have any questions please let me know
