How many bridesmaids/groomsmen is considered 'average'?
Also - is it a major faux pas to have an uneven number of bridesmaids to groomsmen - say 6 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen? What does everyone think?

Ours is uneven...I am having 7 bridesmaids and FH is having either 5 or 6 groomsmen (he's still deciding). I think it's totally fine if it's not even.

Don't know what is considered average these days (I would guess five or six), but I have nine fabulous women in my Bridal Party!!

We had 12 bridesmaids and 13 groomsmen!
I believe that is ABOVE AVERAGE!
but I wouldn't worry about uneven numbers! You just double them up down the aisle.t

That's exactly what we will have. I dont think there is any # written in stone that is good or bad. Personally I didnt want any more than 4 or 5. I just didnt want a 35 person bridal party.

I read this somewhere 1 bm for every 50 guests. And no, you don't need equal number of groomsmen.

We have 7 BM and 7 GM 1 JRBM 1 FG and 1 RB
I was recently in a wedding were it was an uneven amount and no one even noticed. I think anything goes now, as long as you are happy, that is all that counts

Mine is uneven- I just have a MOH and my FH has a BM, a groomsman, and a junior groomsman. We also have a ring bearer and flower girl. I don't think there is an average- its what suits you best
