How many bridesmaids/groomsmen is considered 'average'?
Also - is it a major faux pas to have an uneven number of bridesmaids to groomsmen - say 6 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen? What does everyone think?

We had 6 bridesmaids and 5 groosman. We just gave 1 of the ushers 2 girls to walk down the aisle with. He go a big kick out of that.

Im having 5 BM and 5 GM.
I've actually seen 4 BM and 8 GM. Every BM has 2 GM on each side.

We are having 4 of each but 2 will be maid/matron of honor and one will be best man

We have 9 girls and 8 guys so we are just going to double up 1 couple.
