Just a random thought... I'm getting married on a Saturday. Do you think it's too much to take off on the Thursday and Friday before the wedding and on the Monday? I thought abt going to work on Thursday, but By the time I come home get nails done, get ready, and get bridal party gifts ready, etc I'll be late to my own rehearsal lol. I'm a teacher so I hope my principal doesn't think that's too much but I feel like I need it! Well Monday maybe not lol but I feel like the day after the wedding will be busy with family still in town and my mom is gonna do a big lunch. So Monday would be nice to just relax and do nothing w my fh. Hmmm thoughts??

For almost any other industry, I'd say it's perfectly reasonable. But honestly, in a school this usually wouldn't fly. I think you can do Thursday and Friday, but I wouldn't push it with Monday. Just keep telling yourself how close you are to Christmas break!
This. Unfortunately that's the reality with teaching. And you'll be so close to Christmas break!
It is so funny because I moved to NC this past year to find a job as a guidance counselor. People take off for their weddings all the time! Many days too, don't forget time for the honeymoon. Teaching in New York is so nerve racking, it is ridiculous that you need to worry about taking 3 days off for your wedding. But then again, your NY starting salary is more than the salary for 15 year employees here lol.
I would have a conversation with your principal. Say as you know, I am getting married on this date, and I was wondering how much time you think would be reasonable to take off (between out of town guests arriving, last minute arrangements, etc). Tell him/her that the bride in you knows you need a few days, but the teacher in you knows how important it is that you are there. You are obviously dedicated to your career, let them in on your thought process.

I'm a teacher and got married the Sunday of Columbus day weekend. I took off Friday & Tuesday (since we had Monday off). Honestly I think it's reasonable, and if you have the days, why not. If you aren't sure, talk to your principal & explain the situation.
I'm getting married Columbus Day Sunday too!! (Not a teacher but mom works in a school)

I think that is reasonable. I am getting married on Saturday and I took the thursday and Friday before the wedding off and the two weeks following. We are leaving for our honeymoon Monday after the wedding.

I think it depends on your building. I know my principal would never go for it especially with your date being so close to Christmas break. I think it also depends how long you have worked in your building... but at the end of the day you have to do what you feel is right because it is your day. Thats why I picked the summer to avoid any school conflicts

I wish I can get married in the summer! I can't because if my fiancé's job. Yeah it is close to Christmas break. I know my principal would let me. I guess I'll see how I feel as it gets closer!
