I'm trying to decide between having only 1 MOH and no BMs, or 1 MOH and 5 BMs. I will either only have my sister and thats it, or if I start adding people then I would need to include 5 other girls. It would be nice if I just had my sister because I would probably prefer a small BP. How many are you planning on having??

Re: How many girls will be in your bridal party?
omg I feel ridiculous even saying how many people are in our wedding party. We started with 10 and it's more than doubled.
There are so many people in my wedding party I wonder if I'll have any regular guests haha
1 best man (fiances friend) 6 groomsmen (Fiance's 3 brothers, My brother, 2 friends)
oh and I can't forget my 3 flowergirls and 3 ring bearers.
Including Jason & I .. 22 people in the wedding party

Re: How many girls will be in your bridal party?
Originally I came up with 8 2 MOH 6 BM
My FH has 4 2 BM 2 GM
we haven't announced our picks yet. but i've been trying real hard to scale the number down, i have 3 (2 moh, 1 bm). i'm thinking i should match my FH's (4). but i'm so close to a lot of my friends that's why i would like to have 8 but OMG i can't afford them all.
what is typically what they pay for and what am i expected to pay for? when i ask them - should we bring up the topic about who's paying for what (and how should i bring it up?)
do you think it's unreasonable to have 8 girls???

Re: How many girls will be in your bridal party?
I wouldn't bring up cost with the girls. At least 1 of them will know proper etiquette regarding who will pay for what.
I think the only thing you need to pay for them is the gifts. I could be wrong though but I know I spent like $100 per person on a gift and I have a huge bridal party. I am not paying for dress/hair/makeup/etc.
Plus it's customary for the girls to throw u a bachelorette party. Most people don't consider the shower part of what they have to pay for.

Re: How many girls will be in your bridal party?
I forgot to mention I was in someones wedding party and I spent more than $2k between her engagement party, bachelorette party, shower, dress, hair/makeup and gift. (and I was splitting the cost between me and the 4 other bridesmaids!!) And all the cost came within a 4 month period and it was insane trying to come up with the cash while I was away at college.
I really don't expect my girls to have to pay that much, or throw me any party other than the bachelorette. It's too much pressure and financial burden to put on a person, it will make them less than thrilled to be in your bridal party.
I hope that was helpful.

I like your thinking - I may just have to hopefully go with that. Do you think 8 in my bridal party would be too much or should I limit it to a manageable size of 4?

Re: How many girls will be in your bridal party?
lol you're asking the wrong person. I have 11 girls.. (3 flower girls included) so 7 bridesmaids, 1 Junior.
I originally wanted to keep it small but now that I have an insanely large bridal party I wouldn't change it for the world. Everyone in it is so excited and I'm excited to have them! I love it.

Oh WOW - are you paying for all of them or are you just like what you said previously buying them a gift? I would love 8 in my bridal party but then again I don't have that kind of cash. are you encountering any issues with them - with picking out dresses?

Re: How many girls will be in your bridal party?
I'm just buying them gifts.
I bought them all gold necklaces at $100 a piece.
I haven't started looking for dresses yet - I'm going to make sure to keep that cost low too though - I saw some really nice dresses for under $150. I was in a bridal party a few years ago (different one than I previously mentioned) and the dresses were like $250 and it was just too much for a dress I wore for 5 hours. Plus add on the alterations and shoes and it was over $300. (That's not even including hair and makeup!)
I really like floor length dresses and most styles I like are strapless... but I think no matter what dress I pick I'm going to make sure it has the option for spaghetti straps in case anyone is uncomfortable with strapless.
Above everything I don't want people to think of being in my wedding party as a burden so I want to work with them in any way I can to make it as pleasant as possible. I've seen too many people as bridesmaids end up being mad at the bride at the end of the wedding (myself included).

Re: How many girls will be in your bridal party?
i am having btwn 4-5 bridesmaids not including the MOH, my BP will only consist of family members, (sisters cousins brothers). if they are not my family then i dont wanna have them in my BP because IMO i would hate to not be friends with them anymore to then have to see them in my pics...

Re: How many girls will be in your bridal party?
I am having a Matrong of Honor, a Maid of Honor, and my other bridesmaids consist of my 2 cousins and my FSIL. So 5 girls plus 1 flower girl.
I thought about doing just the MOH but decided not to in the end.
