I'm booked for the Bourne Mansion on a SAturday night and I don't remember if I 'had' to guarantee 175 for the night or if we just volunteered that number because I thought we were going to be around 200. Now I'm beating myself up because we're only going to be 150 and I'm thinking I'm going to be paying for 15 plates for no reason. Once you have a guaranteed minimum and it's in the contract, there's really no more negotiating, right? I just hate to pay an extra $2500 for no reason. I just never expected that so many people wouldn't be able to come. Are there any other Bourne brides out there who know that we actually do 'have to' guarantee a certain amount for a Saturday night so I don't beat myself up anymore???? I'm curious to hear what other brides had to guarantee.................

100 people on a Sat night. They wanted us to guarantee 125, but we negotiated before we went to contract. I think you might be stuck with your minimum once you sign.

My minimum was based on the policies of the Carltun. For a Saturday night, I needed to guarantee 175-- because I knew I would have more than that, I guaranteed 210 to negotiate a lower pp rate.
What I would do is call up BM and ask them what their minimum is for a Sat night in whatever month you are getting married in-- don't tell them you are a bride booked there, to get an honest answer. Then go from there-- at least you will be educated when you try to re-negotiate.
If you cannot negotiate your minimum- most places will allow you to use your vendor meals towards your minimum-- now they are not as expensive as your guest plates, but at least you will save money there.

I think most places charge 1/2 price for vendors, so instead of paying 1/2 price for them, you will just have to pay full price to get closer to your minimum. And maybe you can ask them to just throw in some extra stations in the CH or a tray of pastries for each table. I hope they will give you something to make up the difference!!

110 on a Sunday afternoon at Fox Hollow on Memorial Day weekend. We will have many more then 110....but in the early planning phase, we didn't foresee the list growing so much!
