how many guests should i invite to keep within my min. ?
hi,
my min. is 175 and i do not want to go over that number, however, i do not want to go way below that number either.
How many people should i invite to keep within my min.? I compiled a list and i am up to 230, should i cut down to 215 or stay at 230?
again, i really do not want to go over 175.. TIA!!

Wow, that's so crazy. We have a min of 175 and are trying to keep there and currently our list is 230, too.
We're scared to go by the statistics that you lose 15-20 percent. We don't have many out of towners. We're going to do an A list, B list. We got the A list down to 205.

I have the same issue......I have the same minimum and to meet my personal budget, I can't really go over that amount. I guess I will have to do A and B lists.

I had 202 invited and 150 came. It was a nice amount, honestly.
If you are over by that much, what if teenagers, or people under 21, not to bring a guest unless they have a boyfriend/fiance? My cousin did this back in 2003 and I was 20 and I couldn't bring a guest because the only people to bring guests were to be 21 or over, which the way she said it was rude, but I wasn't dating anyone at the time anyway, so it didnt really matter.
Is there anyway to cut down the lists, by lets say - people who u haven't talked to in literally YEARS? I know my friend was trying to do it that way.
I really don't know what to suggest to be honest. It stinks that you're over by that much because we know $pp, it gets expensive.

ETA- I did an 'A' list and a 'B' list after we got alot of no's, because we gaurenteed 150.....................but somehow someway we still matched the gaurentee, considering only a few 'B' list people came.....
I also think 175-200 is a good minimum.

Well, your wedding is 4th of July time so a lot of people may be going on vacation. Did you send out save the dates? I would invite the 230. We had my friend's bridal shower on 7/1 last year...we invited 72 people and had 30 people come...granted its a shower () as opposed to a wedding but a lot of people had other plans. If you didn't do STD's I would definitely keep it at the 230.

thank you thank you! lets see, i had sent out STD with my thank yous to people that attended my engagement party
otherwise my wedding list is much larger and i did not send stds to those people that were not invited to the eparty..
i suppose i can mail some out really fast.
i guess we will keep the list at 230 since we are having July 1st- even though 4th of July falls on a wednesday. i didnt realise how many people travel during that week...

thank you!! we did do a little shaving off of the guest list. we are only allowing people to bring dates if they have been dating for a while... not sure if we should allow our bp to bring dates even if they are not dating someone at the time...

that is a great idea. i think i will just have to make an rsvp card with a different date.

We don't have a minimum but our list is 230 and we are expecting about 175, so I think your good.

when we gave our rh our min we made it lower than we knew we wanted to have....just incase. we didnt want to pay for people who werent there. our min is 125...its ideal for us to have 150 and are looking at a list of about 180ish.

I just want to chime in here and say 'Hello date twin!' But in addition to that, I wouldn't worry about too many people backing out because it is 7/1. I was originally supposed to have mine on June 30th which is one day before and would never be considered part of 4th of July weekend! I've been to weddings on 7/1, 7/3, 7/5 and they were fun and beautiful! If you send the invites out early enough (early May?) I think you should be fine. But definitely have a backup list-just to feel a little more secure
