I'm looking at a five and a half hour reception that includes ceremony (half hour) and cocktail hour (one hour). The rest goes to dinner. Do you think I have enough time? How long is your wedding?

Thats how long mine is, but we have the option of adding an hour to the reception if we want for an extra cost, not sure if we will because we do plan on having an after party

Mine is 6 hours. 1.5 for the cocktail hour.

I have the same. 1/2 hour ceremony, plus cocktail hour and then 4 hours.
I was looking at the things to do - first dance, toast, boquet toss, etc - and it just seems like there is not enough time to do everything and still be able to get in alot of dancing.
but then I realize every wedding I've been to has been the same timeline and they've squeezed everything in and I still had a blast.
Talk to your reception hall and see if they can give you idea of how long everything takes and when they usually schedule it for.

that is typical....1/2 ceremony, 1 hour cocktail and 4 hour reception.
some couples take pics at CH...we're doing ours before the ceremony so we can attend and enjoy our CH

Mine's is longer since I have a Viennese Hour.
My ceremony is 1/2 hour; Cocktail Hour is 1 hour; and then I have 5 hours for dinner and viennese.

mine was supposed to be 6 hours 7Pm-1am.
ceremony started at 7:30-800, cocktail hour from 8-9, and the rest was dinner.

My reception is 5 hours plus 1 hour for cocktail 6:30-12:30
I was told by my cousin as a recomendation to try very hard to attend the cocktail hour. This way you can socalize & have more fun at the wedding recption part. I think I am going to try to do it.

our ceremony is 30 mins
our CH is 1 hour 30 mins (we extended it b/c its a fri night wedding, we want our guests to make it in time and we are attending most of it) we just attended a wedding and im not sure if the CH was that long on purpose or if it went over - but it was really nice to have enough time to get food, drink, and mingle we enjoyed it and barely noticed that it was longer than1 hr....
our reception is 5 hours - it starts at 8pm and will probably go to 1am (we are having a VH for about 45 minutes)
total time from ceremony to the end is 7 hours (6pm to 1am)

we attended our cocktail hour for the last 15 minutes. awesome time! wish i could have stayed longer...

but ch was from 7:30-8:30, then reception from 8:30-1:30am

my church ceremony is at 300 then the ch is 730 to 830 and reception from 830 to 1230

Cocktails begin at 6:30pm Reception starts at 8pm We have the bar, DJ and reception hall until at 12:30am but will start winding everything down bt midnight.

I am taking all of my bridal party and bride/groom photos before the ceremony. I will probably take some more photos with important guests (like aunts and cousins) during the first 10-15 minutes. But I fully intend to be front and center at the cocktail hour. it's the best part. And where else do I get to cut in line and actually smile about it?
