How many miles do you work from home?

Original post by merf99

And how do you get there? Drive? Train? Bus?

Also, how long does it take you to get there?

Before I moved to NJ...I used to drive from Queens to NJ...about 25 miles each way...about an hour driving time...on a good day.

So...I bought a house near where I work. Now...I'm 3 miles away...takes about 10 minutes.

First off May I say.. I am LAZY

LIRR from Long Island to Penn Station: 45mins
E train Subway at Penn to 7th Ave: 10mins
B or D train at 7th Ave to Rockefeller: 4mins
Walk up the stairs and cross the street: 2mins
Knowing I wont get wet walking from Penn to my office on 46th.. : Priceless!

If I take the 7:24 Mineola Train I get to my desk and turn on the computer by 8:25.

I used to work about a mile away from home and I walked to and from every day...That was the absolute best!!!

I drive 40 miles each way from here to Brooklyn, and to top it all off, since I work nights and I have to be there at 7 pm, I have to leave at 5 smack in the middle of rush hour traffic, and coming home at 8 am I get stuck in traffic again! It takes me about an hour with no traffic and anywhere from 1 1/2-3 hours with traffic. Needless to say, I am now looking for an apartment in Brooklyn!

I am about 40 miles, but w. traffic it takes me an hour and 15 mins in the morning, from my house to my desk. Going home, its about 45 mins-1 hour.

I used to commute via train, and find I like the driving commute better in some ways, like I dont have to stand, I can blast my radio and smoke cigs (though I am on my way to quitting AGAIN) etc. I do miss being able to read a book and relax on my way home, but now I have the books on tape and that is great, really takes your mind off traffic. Overall, I would prefer to drive than train it.

About 8 miles , all side streets

What a change from the 2 hour door-to-door commute at my old job!!
