I think it's fine, but I would look soon. You don't know how long it will take you to find the one and you don't need any pressure. I bought mine 11 months before my wedding and it was in in 2 months!

I was excited to go wedding shopping as soon as I became engaged. I bought my dress in Jan '05 from David's Bridal and it got in at the end of Feb. '05. I know many brides have stated that it took them over 6 months to get their dress, so you may just want to start looking now at the various bridal salons and have it ordered by May/June, so you have time to get it altered, etc.

Mine took 9 months to come into the shop after I ordered it!!! I would look asap.

I ordered mine 13 mos in advance and it came in in 6 weeks. I've had other friends who's dresses have taken 6-9 mos so it depends. I would start looking soon though to get some ideas of what you want!

Ordered mine last August...I guess 10 months before my wedding.
They always say 8 months to a year

really depends on the shop and the designer.
some shops hold onto the dress orders till a particular month, others put them right in...
it's not bad you haven't looked yet. do it when you feel like it's the right time!

I wanted to do it during my month off in january, but my aunt was very sick and she passed away over the weekend, so of course I didn't get the chance. Now I want to look, but I don't think I'll have any time at leats until the end of march!

I think you'll probably be ok but def. go ahead and try to look in March. I looked and found my dress the last week of August. The people at some of the stores were saying I was cutting it close. My dress came in about a month ago.

Mine is taking a year to come in. I ordered it April 15, 2005 and its ETA is April 10. Exactly 8 weeks before my wedding, I'm glad I ordered it when I did!!!!! Depends on the designer, style, and shop you order from how long it takes to come in; but def start looking now so you don't get closed out of any options.

I ordered mine last May, and its still not in. I think the earlier you go, the better. I wouldn't wait too much longer.

I think you should be safe now but I would suggest that you start looking to get an idea of what you want. I ordered mine in Sept. 2005 and it still isn't in yet and won't be until about mid march.

It all depends on the bridal shop and designer. Some designers have a waiting list of 6-9 months. I'd suggest you start looking at what styles you like then in March you can start trying them on. You should order your dress no later than May.

I think it depends on the gown you want - One I wanted was coming from Spain and was 9 month wait, another I looked at was from Italy and was a 10 month wait according to the shop.

I ordered in August for an April wedding, was told it would arrive in March, showed up in December.

I used the 9 month benchmark for ordering, started shopping a couple of months before that.
