How many of you are having your ceremony at your RH.
I thought this would be a fun topic! Being very strong in our faith we get a lot of head turns when we tell people we're not getting married in a church. We couldn't be happier with our decision, our location is beautiful! Lol

We're getting married in a church.
Originally my Fiance' & I wanted to get married at our RH, but A) While the grounds & outside ceremony area at Thatched Cottage are absolutely gorgeous, the inside room/chapel-if there is inclement weather-is small and just not visually appealing, IMO. I didn't want to take that risk. And B) My Mother was not happy about us not getting married in a church. She felt we both made all of our sacraments, why would we not be married in the church? I didn't want her to be upset & it wasn't really a big deal either way for us. Plus now we have tons of time in between the ceremony & cocktail hour to do pictures, instead of either missing our cocktail hour or being forced to see each other before the ceremony (which I didn't want to do).

I am! I get a lot of 'So what church?' questions and I honestly don't get the big deal. We're not religious and that's what is best for us! Plus the location is beautiful.

We are getting married at our RH and doing a reveal before the ceremony. Neither of us are very religious although FH's family is.. we are totally happy with our decision.
Our day is a representation of us and what we believe in. We are extremely content.

We are having the ceremony at the RH. I am still trying to get a priest to do the ceremony, probably one that was a priest but left to get married or something like that.

We are getting married at our RH too, neither of us are religious, and our parents all supported us doing whatever we wanted to do. :)

I still can't make up my mind. My RH has beautiful gardens (that's why I picked it). My mom really wants us to get married in a church, which I always dreamed of doing, as well. So, I'm still can't decide

I think it really depends if you need to have your marriage recognized by a church. You can get someone spiritual to do any faith based ceremony at the RH as well, which is what I'll be doing - something spiritual - but it won't be recognized by the church. Anyway, you probably know this, but sometimes that makes the decision easier!

Everyone in my family made comments when I said I wasn't getting married at church. Then we all went to a wedding where the ceremony was at the RH and the entire family raved how nice it was to go straight from the ceremony to cocktail hour.

That's what I keep telling people! It will be AWESOME to walk out and go straight to the food and drinks!

That's a great line to use! I didn't even really think of that.
I'm having my ceremony at my RH because with so many guests from out of town, it makes getting around that much easier. But it will also be great to go from the ceremony to the food!

My ceremony is at the RH. FH is Catholic and I'm not. Both our families are religious but we decided that it would be best to have it at the RH. Also it will make it easier in terms of traveling especially if I were to have it at a church it would be in Queens and our RH is in Babylon.

We are getting married at the RH too. I've only had a few question me about not getting married in a Church. It was an easy decision for us. Tiana- my sister got married at Chateau Briand. It was supposed to be an outdoor ceremony and it started pouring literally 10 minutes before we were lining up. The transformation they did inside was amazing! They have a great staff there

You don't know how happy that makes me! I am so happy with Chateau so far I'm sure whatever happens they'll work to make my day as special as possible.
We are Christian, but I never really felt it mattered where we got married. It was never really a priority of mine I'm just realizing now how much it really matters to other people. I never really thought my church was a pretty location for getting married as horrible as that sounds lol, plus we're in the process of switching churches so this decision is best. I honestly don't care where we say our vows lol... we could say them in hole in the wall bar and I'd still be happy! hahah

We are getting married at the RH. Since we knew we had to, this was a BIG factor in choosing the hall- outside & inside ceremony location. The only major concern we have is pictures (ie time for them since we want to be at cocktail hour) so we are going to do them before with a reveal (separate pix first). saw some pix of these online and they look so sweet :) hopefully once we get our photographer this will all be ironed out.

Re: How many of you are having your ceremony at your RH.
Im getting married at a church. It has nothing to do with religious preference though. I have two main reasons
1. Fh is not allowed to see me before I walk down the aisle. Therefore no pictures beforehand. We're getting married in March so it gets dark early.. at our RH our ceremony wouldnt start till 630 which is no good.
2. I want to eat at my cocktail hour, not take pictures! Some of the best food is during this time so I refuse to miss out!

Re: How many of you are having your ceremony at your RH.
I don't have a RH yet but we will be doing our ceremony at our RH because I am catholic and my FH is jewish. Because we are interfaith, this decision has not come as a surprise to many of our friends and family but it is playing a bit part into our choice of RH.
Like lauren1802, a big factor in our decision on a RH will be what the ceremony space looks like. We also plan to do a 'reveal' before the ceremony so we can go straight to cocktail hour too (we want to eat the food!). Looking at RH spaces this weekend so hopefully I will have something soon!
