Re: How many of you are not doing OOT boxes??
I'm not doing the elaborate boxes I've seen on here. I'm just doing bags, the gift bag type things, you can get them in any dollar store. In each I'm putting 2 water bottles, ind. packets of advil and excedrin, granola bars, gum, maybe something else. And a printout inside saying thank-you, along with the shuttle schedule to and from the reception as well as inviting them to breakfast the next morning if they want to join us.

OOT= Out Of Town. A box/bag you would have given to guests when they check into the hotel you're using, if they're staying over.

Re: How many of you are not doing OOT boxes??
I am doing really simple bags. I always appreciate them when I go to OOT (thanks for clarifiying what that meant) weddings.
Simple bags. Michael's sells all kinds of stickers for like $1.19 a sheet. Going to Costco to buy snacks in bulk. Nothing crazy. U can even go to Stop-n-shop now and buy leftover halloween candy for like $1 a bag. Nobody will ever know.

Totally not doing 'em. That's what minibars are for, IMHO. Its not the money, its the time which it takes to do them ... Hmmmmm Can I just leave $20 for everyone to buy their own mints and H2O? I'll even put a favor tag with my monogram on the $20..

Didn't do them, and pretty sure nobody missed them. I've been an OOT guest before, didn't get one, and didn't care at all. Until LIW, I didn't even know OOT boxes existed!
Sooo...why add the extra cost and extra stress?

yeah, see I always get them when I go to weddings when I check in. The one wedding I went to that didn't have them I will admit I was like.....?!?!?! Only because I don't know when the shuttle will be out front and a bottle of water is always nice in the morning when you wake up. But it's definitely not something you HAVE to do. If your guests aren't used to it, then don't sweat it.
All of my friends would expect it and I want to do it, but I definitely won't be doing it the way with boxes and monograms and all that. Just quick, cheap and simple.

Re: How many of you are not doing OOT boxes??
I love the gable boxes with the monogram, but my mom found these bin-type things at the dollar store, hard to describe (they are square but get wider as you get to the top so the sides are on an angle) with handle cutouts that are really cute. she also found cellophane that looks like lace, and we are going to put a few things in them like water, maybe some small snack bags from price club, etc.
we are going to have a lot of OOT guests, but dont think any of them are expecting anything.

Re: How many of you are not doing OOT boxes??
I think I will be doing a very simple one. A gift bag, two bottles of water (I have cool labels for them, going to personalize if I have time), gum and something to eat, like 2 apples or 2 granola bars, and a thank you note ... and a shuttle schedule. Easy. I should be able to do them in one night.
I went to an OOT wedding last year and they had them, and I liked it - but I had never seen it before, personally. I don't think it would be bad for you not to do them, Deanna, but you could do them for super cheap and super fast, if you wanted to.
I can help! I love doing things like this!

Seriously ... if it is stressing you out, DO NOT DO IT! Your wedding is a month from tomorrow - do not stress yourself out any more than you need to! It will be fine.
I have an idea, though. How many OOT guests are you having? Can you just do a nice note to say thanks and a shuttle service note? You could just put these two things in an envelope and the front desk could give one out ot each person as they check in.

If your OOT guests are staying at the Best Western in Woodbury, they put up a sign for you with the shuttle service listed on it. I had no idea, but was pleasantly surprised!
Here's a pic...kinda blurry...
