Can you share your pics? Also, can you give me a rouch idea of what the cost is to DIY? You can FM me if you like. Do you need a lot of patience to do them? Any info will help....

Re: How many of you did your own invitations?
I loved doing the invites, so I had a lot of patience. My photos are in my album.

I did! Loved it, but yes you need patience and time. I would say it cost me around $350-$400. Now of course you can get regular invites for that much, but I wanted pocketfolds.

Re: How many of you did your own invitations?
I did and it was the WORST thing I did throughout this entire process! LOL...but seriously...unless you're planning on something simple and have alot of time on your hands (which I dont) you're better off ordering them. Don't get me wrong....i LOVE my invites, but they were a major league PITA!

Re: How many of you did your own invitations?
I didn't 100% DIY them but I designed them myself. I took the base of one invitation, totally changed the font and layout, designed the response cards, etc. I went through 3 sets of proofs and then had them printed/put together by an invitation company.
I love to DIY but I'm a full time law student and wouldn't have the time to do it totally myself, and I wanted it to be really good quality.
When I was 12 I semi-DIYed my bat mitzvah invites (designed them from scratch, had the invite company print them and then glued 3 little flowers on each, and then a pearl in the center of each one)

Re: How many of you did your own invitations?
i'm making mine from scratch. I started early (a few months ago and I'm doing alittle everyday so I dont get impatient because I work 7days a week and i'm only home at night) its costing me about 400 and i did pockfetfolds. if you dont DIY pocketfolds they cost about 800-900.
it is a PITA but i think its a nice personal touch and later on i will be happy with them ^^

Sorry to sound dumb, but what are pocketfolds and why are they less expensive?

diva7531 invites are pocketfolds..
if you order it from a company they're expensive..but if you DIY you have to buy all the paper print the words on them cut them to the right size glue them, make a monogram.. its just alot of work but half the price.
i got a quote from mygatsby around $1000 for 150 invites

Re: How many of you did your own invitations?
I didn't print our invites (had them printed with a local place), but I assembled all of them, plus hand cut and glued each envelope liner. In the middle of it, I was kicking myself for deciding to do it, but the end result was so worth it! Regarding the price, we didn't really save in that area because I had them professionally printed and also purchased the holder for them to go in, plus ribbon and monogrammed seals. By printing them yourself, you could save a lot more. I have pictures of them in my album DIY Invites

maybe i wasnt making myself clear lol
mygatsby is a company that makes & sells invites. if I ordered similar invites(pocketfold) it would have cost me about 1000
I decided to make my invites myself to save money and ended up saving ALOT
does that make more sense?

Re: How many of you did your own invitations?
Yes. I suppose. I was only asking because I am on their website and they sell DIY invitations. I was just wondering if that is what you ordered or if they were doing everything for you. It looks like they will sell you the stuff and you would print them at home....

Re: How many of you did your own invitations?
I made all my invites, including the pocketfolds. I spent about $320 on supplies, that includes the rhinestone buckles. If you look in my album there are the finalized invites and also some rejected ones along the way. And it is so worth it because it's exactly how I want them, not something from a catalog. My invites matches my unity candle, bo-k and table numbers. It takes a lot of patience. If you have BM who are willing to help that would make your life a lot easier. HTH

But all in all, is the money saved a great amount? If so, is it worth the headache? I don't know if I would have the patience for it....
