How many of you had to plan own bachelorette?

Original post by beachprincess

I am starting to think I have no friends. None of my BMs have approached me about my Bachelorette Party and it is two and a half months before my wedding!

So...I had to plan and pay for it myself!!! YUP! How pathetic is that!

My party is going to be awesome, but I had to put the entire thing on FH's credit card and we just do not have the money to be doing that, so I hope people come and chip in to pay me back.

My sister agreed to put her name on the invites so I do not look stupid asking people to reimburse me.

Why are my BMs so dumb??? Are they really that stupid that they don't realize they are supposed to plan this stuff for me? When I asked them to be in the wedding I gave them a book on bridesmaid duties. It was a cute book, not a bossy one. You would think that would have been a big enough hint.

I think they are getting off easy. The dress was $128, one night at hotel is $159, I am buying them their jewelry and told them to pay me whatever they can afford for hair and makeup and I would pay the rest for them. My mom is footing the bill for my shower. How cheap can they be? The worst part is I am always there for them. I love weddings and am always the one offering to plan stuff for other people.

The cost per girl for the beach weekend is $130 and that includes hotel for two nights, club admission, and dinner at a nice place. I think that is a good deal for where we are going. I actually put in the letter though that I would rather have them be there than not come due to the money, so the letter says to call my sister and discuss it if they cannot come up with the $$$ (cause I would rather have $50 per girl, than not get reimbursed at all! )

Then I found out today my sister (who is my MOH) was complaining about the cost of the bachelorette party I booked to my mom. She has some nerve considering she did not offer to put the hotel rooms on her credit card. I explained to her that $130 is as cheap as I could make it and is a good deal for the area. Normally it would cost double that. Also, I told her I am paying for myself! That price does not even cover the bride!
So my sister responds by saying that she would pay for me, but is saving up money for her own wedding and cannot afford it.

SHE IS NOT EVEN ENGAGED YET!!! WHAT THE HECK! I CANNOT BELIEVE THE NERVE OF SOME PEOPLE.

so sorry you are going through this .

looks like i am not even having one with 3 weeks to go.

without going into a whole vent. i really don't know why weddings bring out the worst in people. you only get married once. this is supposed to be a happy time. honestly, i had fun in the beginning planning the wedding. but now can't wait for it be over.

My MOH got it easy. her dress was only $120 NO alterations required.

hope things work out for you

btw... i agree your Mom is awesome

Thank you, Sandy!!!! Mary MOB

I am planning my own. I think everyone knows that they have to pay for themselves. I told everyone the approximate cost. My sisters are helping me plan but not taking the reigns

How come your sister/MOH did not plan this for you?

I am a control freak and had a lot of say in what we were doing, where we were going etc! But my sister tried hard to keep me out out of the final details!!!!

Anyway....where are you going? $130 is nothing for the whole weekend! Mine was over $200 for 1 night in AC!

Hi, Jenn, I know Debi probably won't have time to come on LIW this week, because of all the prep for Learning for Life Days (1100 students), so I hope you don't mind if I answer, until Deb has time. Her Bachelorette is in OC, Md.They're staying at Castle in the Sand Hotel, on the beach, and going to Seacrets Night Club. Her Sis told me she was going to plan a Bachelorette for Debi, but Debi felt it was getting late and she had not heard anything and thought no one was doing anything. I'm almost certain Debi's Sis did not have anything planned yet. And I agree, if Debi had not made arrangements, it would have been too late. I spoke to my other Daughter, on Sat. and she is excited about going. I think Debi is hoping to be repaid what she spent; The poor girl did not figure in what everything would cost for her personally, the expenses that 'normally' your girls would pay for. debismom, Mary

I planned my own. I didn't want to end up at Hunkamania.
