I know that everyone has their own opinion on whether to send a gift or not if you're attending and I don't care about that. I want to know how many of you received gifts from those that didn't attend your wedding. We've had 4 official NOs so far and nothing with them (they are all from FH's family and his mom is ticked because she has given a gift to all of them...not to say we won't get something) but just curious the number of people that sent gifts that didn't attend.

I don't know exact numbers but probably more than half? About half? the NY nos sent checks, the OOT nos sent registry gifts.
ETA: the checks almost always came with the RSVP card and the registry gifts were shipped separately

I have to admit that i am also guilty of RSVPing no and not sending a gift -- unless it's for a baby shower

MY FMIL was pissed about that also but for our engagment becuase hardly anyone in her family sent.
We just got invited to a wedding....but too far to travel to (out of country) and we didn't send a gift. We are guilty!!

Not a whole lot...definitely less than half. I thought it was more, but when I went back and looked very few actually did.

we had about 3 of our no's send a gift(and we had about 15couples(ie: 30-35 no's).. honestly if they're not coming they're not obligated too. In fact to me, a lot of people who do say no aside from having another commitment, say no because of finances. i was very grateful to the 'no's' that sent a gift & followed right up with a thankyou phonecall...if they didn't send one it was fine because i didn't expect it, if they did then i was very grateful & appreciative.

We got a bunch..mostly checks, a few registry items. I think only one check came with the RSVP, most came after with a card..or with family of someone who came to the wedding.
Probably about 1/2 of the No's sent a gift.

All family members (blood relatives, not cousins of cousins) who were unable to attend sent a gift. (so far)

FMIL is going to be fuming All of the people that have said no are from her family and she has always sent them gifts when she didn't attend.

I think out of the almost 40 people that are not coming, we got 5 checks from people. i was pleasantly surprised to get the ones we did, but my mom is unhappy that a few close friends who can't make it didn't send gifts.

I agree that those that respond no should not be expected to send anything, as some may not be coming to the wedding solely for financial reasons.

About half of our Nos sent a check or gift but they all sent it closer to the wedding date. Two people sent it with the RSVP.

I only have 5 people who are not coming so far (we need at least 10 more!!!) and one couple sent a check. And the couple that sent the check never met me, hasn't seen matt in 20 years if ever - I think it's his grandfather's cousin? - so I was pretty suprised at it. However, FH's parents say they have money, so maybe that explains it?
(I didn't want to invite them, but apparently they were a must, but no one expected them to come - they were one of those 'they need to get an invite but they won't come.')
