how many ounces in a cup?

OK, I gave in and bought the WW scale, but dont know how to measure since it only gives ounces. If I am serving 1/2 cup, how many ounces is that? Is it 4oz? What about when measuring tablespoons?
who knew dieting involved all this math?

Half a cup is four ounces, one cup is 8 fluid ounces.... I know, a total pain in the butt.

Here is some useful info:
1 gallon 128oz 3.78 litres
1 qt 32 oz
1 pt 16 oz
1 cup 8 oz
