My mom asked me a similar question. She asked if 175 are coming to the reception then how many ppl will actually show up to the ceremony? (she doesnt think that going to the reception and not the ceremony is very nice) so I was thinking of putting like options on the RSVP cards like

____ I will attend the ceremony and reception

____ I will attend the reception only

Idk its just a thought, i dont want an empty church and everyone decides they just wanna go for the party. If you arent there with me through the heat in the church, then you arent with me in the cool air of the RH.

I find that if its at the RH and thats what time you make the invitation for ,then most of your guests will be there. My experience with a church was that about a quarter of my guests showed up for the ceremony. HTH

This is one of the most important days of our lives! I would want all of the guests i invite to be there and share this special moment with both myself and FH. I know that is not reality but it would be nice. When i attend weddings i try to go to both the church and reception.

Usually half go to the ceremony, sometimes even less.

It depends where and how long is the gap between ceremony and reception. Our ceremony is the same place as our RH so all of our guest shows up. If you're ceremony is in the church or somewhere else and the gap between ceremony and reception is more than 2 hours, people tend to skip ceremony.

we actually had more people at the ceremony (mass) than the reception, believe it or not--a lot of old friends from our neighborhood that we couldnt invite, but still knew us, decided to come...old teachers, etc.

Really? If someone I invited didn't come to the ceremony and only the reception I would be steamed. then again, we are having a very small wedding and if someone is missing it will be quite noticable. Plus the ceremony and reception are in the same place.

See I am ok if only family shows to the church. I would rather more people at the reception. We never go to the church unless its someone really close or family.

From my experience there is never the same amount of people at the church....if the ceremony is at the RH then I think most guest will be there.... i was worrying about programs for my wedding. 280 guest list but I ma making 100 programs...that will be MORE than enough.

From my experience with my family, most of them go to the RH and not the ceremony. i think its rude but its pretty much accepted now.

i had my wedding on a friday with almost a 3hour time gap before our reception - so i only made 70programs thinking not many people would be there....turned out to be PACKED OUT with standing room only for the late comers... i honestly think it just depends!

I would say about half of our guests attended our ceremony and all of our guests were at the CH.

I booked the Historical Chapel in Woodbury. For those who are familiar with it, it is very , very , very tiny lol I have about 180 on the guest list so far, and I am actually PRAYING that only about a quarter show up lol The chapel only holds about 110 I think lol I am the rare case I guess where the less the better.

I would definitely prepare for as many people as possible to be at the ceremony just in case. You don't want to drive yourself nuts with who is going to the ceremony and who isn't right?

I think it is so rude for people to think it is ok to skip the ceremony and then show up for the reception.

i'm expecting just my immediate family to be there.. like aunts, uncles, cousins.. my ceremony is going to be at 10:30am and then the reception starts at 1pm so i'm sure there will be people that want extra sleep and just show up to the RH! haha...
