How many people were invited or will be invited to your bridal shower? Do you invite ALL of the women that will be invited to the wedding? Does anyone know the percentage of responses that decline? My sister is paying for my shower & I really don't want her to break the bank.
TIA

Re: How many people were invited....
You don't have to invite every single female that will be at your wedding, just the ones you know and want to be there.
(For instance there are some wives and girlfriends of our guests that I haven't met, and therefore are not invited to my shower).
My rule of thumb was if we haven't met or if I didn't think they would come (like some OOT guests) then they weren't invited.
As far as a decline rate, it's probably in the same ballpark as a wedding, about 15%.
Out of the 40 people I gave my MOH, I'm guessing about 30-32 will make it.

there will be about 20 woman on the invite list-- we have about 50% of OOTG so they will not be invited

Re: How many people were invited....
My mother, FMIL & I just put our lists together. It will be about 85 people invited. Too much for me, but FH has a big family. I am not inviting anyone that will not be invited to the wedding.

I think mom invited about 50 people and about 25-30 came.
You have a lot of leeway on terms of who you invite --but you don't have to invite every woman who is invited to you wedding.

You definitely DO NOT have to invite every woman who will be at the wedding. I personally find it odd to receive an invitation to a shower when I don't know the bride very well.
I had about 35-40 people invited to my shower and I think about 25 people attended (including the BP).

Re: How many people were invited....
Cutting out a few unimportant people still generated 110 for me and 125 for FH its gonna be rather large.
My sister cut out people that 'should have' been invited and they are still upset with her today... Be Careful!!

I don't want a large shower. Just something simple with only the women that I am really close to there with me. Not my great aunts and cousins that I never see. The guest list is about 40. Probably will have about 30 show.

I had about 50 people at my shower. They only invited very colse relatives and friends. They didn't invited the extended family that we never see, but they will be invited to the wedding.

Wow, I thought I had it rough with about 120 total. Do you know where they're having your shower? With the amount of people I have, it has to be a hall. I love Water's Edge in LIC, but of course, they won't tell me anything.

Re: How many people were invited....
I'm only inviting close family on both sides and friends. I think I have fewer than 50 (I don't know all of the ppl on FH side- they don't really do showers so it's not too many). I invited one or two girls bc I was invited to theirs. I wanted to keep it small and intamate. I don't want a shower that resembles my wedding!! I know that some don't have a choice here so I'm lucky (plus, my mom and BM can't afford that much!).
Good luck!

Thats what I was going to say, and we wound up with about 30 people
