How many place settings did you register for? BBB recomends 12 but that seems like alot to me.

I think a lot depends on the number of people you see yourself entertaining. I have a big family and though I registered for 12, lately i've been thinking about adding a couple more settings. Just my immediate family is 8 people plus FH and myself is already 10 people.

I can't believe how expensive this stuff is. I had no idea. Of course I like the Lenox stuff too. I don't know if anyone will buy it for me.

I plan on registering for 16 place settings. You may think that is excessive but both my FH and I have large immediate families with in-laws and semi-extended families that share in each celebration that would require the use of china. I always hated being the one who had to use the stuff from the kitchen when everyone else got the fancy stuff.The not-so-easy-to-break stuff is reserved for the kiddie table - NOT the grown up table!

I registered for 8 settings only cause we don't have many more then 4 usually for dinner... sometimes 1-2 more, but not usually.

I registered for 12-I have a large family and so does he so I'm also considering adding on more place settings so no one has to use the everyday stuff

i registered and received 12 place settings for my china. i think once you start counting people on both sides it easily adds up and you always need extra just in case someone you werent expecting comes for a holiday dinner

we did 12 fancy, 8 casual. my friend did 24 of everything, b/c she & her hsuband both come from big families.

I registered for 8 settings for the everyday stuff and 18 for the china. FH has a very large family.

We haven't registered yet...but will most likely register for 15 (just in case something breaks) when we get together with our close friends there are ten of us...family is a bit more...
