How many places did you look before choosing dress?

I am returning to the bridal shop tomorrow to try on the dress that I thought was my final choice, but now I'm not so sure. I saw some dresses i loved online that were satiny. the one i'm trying tomorrow is more kind of lacey but not...it's got some sort of embroidered type design with pearl and crystal beads, kinda like a Monique Lilliheur (sp?) but it was a pronovias. I 'really liked' the one i tried on, and frankly, just don't want to go all around looking for a dress. However, I don't want to regret it if I find other dresses i might like better after I purchase it.

I guess it's safer not to buy it tomorrow, but I am getting nervous that I'm running out of time. My wedding's in August

How many places/dresses did you ladies go to before finding THE DRESS?

ETA: I got my dress! I posted a separate note about it. Thank you all so much for your answers. It really made me feel so much better going in knowing that it kind of ran the gamut in terms of how much time and how many dresses were tried on...Yippee!

i only went to one for the most part! i tried on about 40-50 gowns there lol. then i just went to another shop because they carried my gown in the color i was ordering and ended up trying on a few more there. but that was it! when u know u just know honestly, talk to the bridal shop about ur time frame. they'll be honest with u. if u DO have time, there's no harm in trying on a few more at different places. if they think u should order it, and u feel confident about ur choice - then order girl! don't worry - it'll all be fine & u'll get the dress ur meant to have no worries or stress!

I went to about 5. The week before i purchased my dress i thought i found the one but i knew i had one more place to go to and when i went there and tried on my dress i fell in love. THere was a significant price difference in the dresses but at that point nothing mattered because i knew that i had to have this dress.

If you are the type of person that falls in love with something you will definately know when you find it. Just keep an open mind and try on all different styles cuz sometimes the one u least expect is the one you end up falling in love with

YUP! i had a TOTAL picture of what i wanted my dress to look like - and i ended up with something TOTALLY different . i was so happy i tried on all different styles

I found my dress at the 5th shop I went to. Although, 2 of the places I went were more of a scouting mission: David's and Priscilla of Boston, more as kind of a 'okay this is the cheapest and this is the most expensive' so I knew what I wanted to pay for and what kind of quality to look for.

Ended up buying at Lillette's.

Thanks everyone!! i will see how i feel when i try the dress on again. I agree. If I love it I should just buy it and stop obsessing!! Wish me luck

1 place nad it was the 4th dress I tried on. I was just looking, but I LOVED my dress in the window. If I would have known then that my wedding would change so much I would have gotten a different dress. I liked my dress, but to be honest I really wasn't to worried about my dress. 5 places - can't even count how many I tried.
However you are def cutting it close.
Remember you really about 6months - & the dress Manufacturer(s) closes during one month of the summer.

Inquire about it.

I went to three places, but really only felt comfortable at one of them. I have no clue how many dresses I tried on though ..

I think I went to about 8. I tried on at least 5 dresses at each shop. I ordered my dress (A Pronovias) 5 months before my wedding, so you have a little bit more time to go. I know it's a PITA but I would keep looking.

I only went to one.. and it was the 3rd dress I tried on! I did try on about 10 more to make sure though!

It was the first dress I found in a bridal magazine. I knew it was the one when I saw it because it was everything I imagined my dress to look like. I located it, tried it on and it was the one. I did try on about 5 other ones but that was the one I fell in love with.

my dress was one of the first I really tried on, after that I think I went to about 5 or 6 places, and about 30-40 dresses before going back for the one I wanted
