How many readings

How many readings

are you having for the ceremony? (and what type of ceremony is it- church or no?). Im not sure how many I should be picking from the list officiant sent me of suggested readings. maybe 2 or 3??

ETA: FH and I love 1 John 4:7-21 and Colossians 3:12-17. And MAYBE the apache wedding blessing if we have time-
Now you will feel no rain,
For each of you will be shelter to the other.
Now you will feel no cold,
For each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there is no more loneliness.
Now you are two persons.
But there is one life before you.
Go, now, to your dwelling place
to enter into the place of your togetherness.
And may your days be good and long upon the earth.

Re: How many readings

I am having one, but only because a cousin who would have been in the BP is getting married 1 month before me. If it weren't for that probably none.

Re: How many readings

I am having a full mass in a catholic church--so that's one reading from the Old Testament, one reading from the New Testament---and then I think you pick someone to read the prayer of the faithful????!!!! I'm so embarressed, I should know this, but I think that's what it's called! I actually wish there was one more reading, since I want to ask 4 people to do readings...

Does anyone know if I can have someone read the Responsorial Psalm too or will that be sung?

Re: How many readings

which ones did you all choose?

Re: How many readings

We have to choose out of a booklet the church gave us---so I can't find anything from the Old Testament yet, (I'll have to choose something eventually I just don't know yet), but for the New Testament I like the one that goes...'Love is patient, love is kind...'

I'm doing 2. We're getting married at the RH. One of the readings is a selection from The Velveteen Rabbit, which was read at my MOHs wedding (she'll read it at mine). We're still deciding on the 2nd reading.

We are having 2. I am not sure which ones yet though. We still have to meet with the Pastor who will be marrying us. Apparently, the one whom we thought was going to marry us left the church. We are getting married at the Community Church of East Williston, which is a Protestant-line church that allows people of all Christian faiths get married in their gorgeous church! My ceremony will only be 30 mins. tops! Not a full mass. HTH!

Re: How many readings

I love that apache reading- beautiful!

We're having a ceremony and doing two readings- one Old testament, one new (it's required to do one from each). Priest will do Prayer of the Faithful.

I believe the Old Testament one we're doing is from the book of Genesis- the story of woman created to give man a companion. Not my favorite, but FH's brother felt most comfortable reading that one. The other one is the one from Corinthians (New Testament)- love is patient, love is kind....

HTH!

Re: How many readings

I'm having one reading and one prayer. Keeping it short, it's an outdoor wedding in the summer, with no tent!

We are getting married at our RH and our minister said that we can do either 2 or 3 reading. We want the Irish Blessing read at our wedding and FH likes the appache wedding blessing too.

Us too! Was hoping to keep it to like a half hour at most. Maybe we'll only do two!
