How many trials?

How many trials?

I'm super picky when it comes to having my hair and makeup done, mostly because I've never had an updo before and that's what I want to try.

How many trials did you end up doing for each? How did you choose? I have 3 hair trials and 4 makeup trials booked and I was considering doing one more hair.... Is that going overboard? Did you try many before you booked with one of them or did you book that day with one you loved and cancelled the others?

I've had 3 makeup trials already and plan on doing more lol. I'm super picky about my makeup esp since I wear a lot on a daily basis. I'm doing another hair trial after not liking my first. I don't think it's going overboard at all keep doing trials until you are totally happy with someone and how you look. last thing you ever want is to be upset the day of your wedding because you aren't happy with hair/makeup.

1 and 1. I chose vendors that I 100% trusted would do a great job, and I know I made all the right choices. To be honest, it sounds like you're spending way too much $ having all these trials (assuming you're paying for them).

How did you know who to trust? It sounds like you're one of very few, everyone i've asked said they did at least 2 or 3 trials for each...it would be nice to only have 1 trial for each but i don't get my hair or makeup done often so i can only go by recommendations people have made on this site, and people's tastes drastically differ so it really depends on personal preference and recommendations can only go so far.

Who did you end up using by the way?

Makeup I booked a trial for my epics and she nailed it. Didn't bother looking elsewhere and booked her for my day.
Hair I can't help you. My SIL is my hairdresser and she will do as many trials as her or I want. I have a feeling she will nail it the first time but we are going to start next week! Can't wait!

How many trials?

I'm a makeup artist myself and ideally I would like for once to have my makeup done for my big day and even being in the business I do not like a lot of 'makeup artist' work I know I do better work than a lot of the ones I have seen and I am extremely picky on products so I plan on doing max 6 if after that I am just going to do my own makeup cause I know the products I use, how it looks on me, and that it last. I just wanted to not have to worry on my big day which is like most brides but give youtself a cut off like no more than and really research the people you try read the testimonials here on off the site. I already had one done and I wasn't in love but that is because I am seriously picky and I could do the same thing she did to me and I broke out really bad from the produts she used. I too wear a lot of makeup everyday so I am looking for particulary a more dramatic look than my everyday. I would suggests know what you want for your look for your wedding day print out or show the makeup artist photos that way you can really get an idea of how you will look on your day.

I got my makeup done for the very first time for a family member's wedding, which I considered my trial. Loved it, booked her on the spot. For hair, I am using the stylist I've gone to for years. Didn't do a trial with her yet, but I booked her because I know she does great work.

I guess I trusted that they would nail it based on recommendations from people who have used them. I just hate having too many options bc then its just harder to make a decision. Actually, every vendor I used was the first and only I had appointments with.

For hair, I used Sara Rock from NyBridalLooks, and for makeup I used Marisa Dreesen. Both really stepped it up for the wedding and were flawless.

Do the people you have trials booked with have picture galleries of past brides? Maybe you can bring it down to 2 of each based on your favorite pics.
