Re: how much???
Rochester weddings are a lot cheaper. My friend is from Rochester and she said that 40-60 per plate is the norm.
I think you def can get away with less than you normally would here.
Here I would say 400-500. I would say 400 would be more than enough. you could def do less and you still would be more than good.

Re: how much???
I think you should give what you can comfortably afford.
I am going to a wedding Saturday with FH and even if we were in the bridal party we would not be able to afford $400-500
I think the 'rule' of giving more if you are in the bridal party kind of ***** b/c you're already spending a lot more than a 'regular' guest. I would think giving less than the 'norm' would be totally acceptable if you are the MOH or the BM.

I agree with one of the above posts. I say give what you can afford. I also totally don't believe in giving less based on where someone has their wedding. Why should one give more to someone who chose be extravagent with their wedding over someone who was more down to earth and spent less per plate. It is a huge pet pieve of mine. I say people should have a standard amount or 'rule of thumb' they follow for each wedding. Just my opinon

I agree. I usually give the same no matter where the venue is.

Re: how much???
i wasn't saying that we should give less b/c the wedding is in rochester which is less expensive than long island. What I was trying to say is that FH and I have to go there and stay for 3 nights which is costing a lot of money. I was also curious b/c I have heard that you give less when you are in the wedding party b/c you have had to pick up a lot of other expenses

Re: how much???
give whatever you feel is appropriate. i would say anywhere from $250-400 is reasonable. also, if you are in the wedding party you have to take into account and the bride/groom should also take into account that you did lay out money for other things towards the wedding. they should be understanding if you don't give as much as you might for another wedding.

Re: how much???
Give what you can afford since you will be staying in a hotel. The couple knows you're shelling out a lot of money already. If you can only give $300 so be it.

Re: how much???
I would just like to say, I would like you to all be guests at my wedding! You are GREAT gift givers!
In all honesty...I agree...you give what you can comfortably afford. You are picking up alot of expenses and I'm sure they know that. Plus you are planning a wedding yourself. Also...chances are, whatever you give them, they are going to turn around and give you. My best friend and MOH are getting married 47 days apart, we decided not to exchance wedding gifts.
