How much are you paying for church ceremony???

How much are you paying for church ceremony???

FH and I met with the Deacon at our parish this week to schedule the ceremony and discuss marriage classes. He told us that the fee for the ceremony was $750, $180 for the organist and the classes were $300. I feel like that is a lot of money! We aren't even having a full ceremony! The fee for the ceremony is supposed to be considered a 'donation' and the Deacon said he'd work with us but I feel like it sacrilegious to bargaining with the church. Does these prices seem reasonable?

We are paying 750 for the church, organist included. 300 for marriage prep classes. And if it comes down to it I'll be neg with our deacon.

We're paying $700 for the church and $200 for pre cana, our church is in Queens We aren't having a full ceremony either. I think it's a lot but also don't think I could bring myself to bargain with the church.

same here!

I think we are paying 625. With pre cana its like 700. Chruc has to make its money somehow and if you have your ceremony at your hall it would be the same as well.

We paid $125 for Pre-cana and Foccus. For the church and music it is $625.

We are paying 750 for the church (that's with the organist/singer). The wording was confusing, so I'm not sure if we pay 750 or 850 when all is said and done.
It was a lot more than I expected, but when I complained, my friend said, 'How many donations have you made to the church?'. Point taken!

Are you using your church musicians or hiring outside. I'm thinking a string quartet (my church cantors are pretty bad...lol)

I wish Pre-Cana cost less....but we were kind of forced to do a weekend one since we live so far apart, and that is what they cost I guess

I think thats a lot. We are getting married at St. Raphael's in East Meadow and it's 600 for everything. They didn't even break it up for us, just one set price. HTH
