How much are you paying for your wedding officiant??
I'm having such a hard time finding someone to marry us up here (Maine)....and I just about died when I got email back from a JP that charges $400 to perform a half-hour ceremony!!!! Is this normal?!?!

What?! That sounds unreal!!!! My sister was married by someone for $50. Guess I'll need to give this guy a call!

I guess Maine is different but my friends in NY decided to get married by a judge and they were told by law that a judge couldn't charge more than $75!!! So - I would check into it and not just go by his word.

NOTHING. The officiant is free because he's my mom's cousin.
but, the church wants $250 for the site and $250 for the organist and solist.

We're paying $375 each for a Rev. and Rabbi and a $1000 site fee. So $1750 for 20 minutes!

$250 church fee, $10 each alter boy, $175 for organist, $100 for officiant

Yay! I just found one (I think!) He just did my friend's wedding. Very cool guy. $150!

Please post the officiant for $150, I have been very surprised that officiants cost on average $500, and everyone tends to use the same ones on this board, if anyone else can recommend other officiants that are under $150, please FM me. THANKS.

I paid $300 for a JP - so it sounds about right. Ridiculous isn't it?!

I'm getting maried by a preist, but I was told to give whatever we want to to the church & to her, if we want. I have NO idea where to start!

We had a friend of ours ordained online by the Church of Human Spiritualism. He registered with the city and can now legally marry us. It cost us a total of $95 I believe.

I think our officiant charges $300, but he is excellent--here is his website Rev. Ren Jackson . I would recommend him to anyone--we met with him and what he said was so touching I almost started crying...I know he will do a great job, and he was recommended to me by a friend.
