Re: How much are you paying per person
i'm kinda pissed right now to find out that gratuity is taxed...how tf do you tax something extra...ITS A DAMN GRATUITY...a gift...a thank you for their service...I mean we already get taxed on the price per person...so to also tax the gratuity...i think thats taking advantage. I really can't stand the bridal industry...its disgusting.

yup - gratuity is taxed...
on a side note... you prob should mention how many people you are guarantee -ing(sp??) because that effects the price per person...
the more people you have the less you pay per person...
tax is on the amount pp, gratuity is on the amount pp, tax does not have a gratuity.
I just broke down my pp..........

Re: How much are you paying per person
I cannot believe this. Am I the only one that feels like I've overpaid by about $100 per person. We're paying 120 b4 tax and service for a saturday in November and we guaranteed 220 people.
I understand there is no such thing as a wedding season anymore but I can't shake the feeling that we were completely overcharged.

Well, what are you getting for 120? Did you HAVE to have a saturday night wedding in November with 220 people? Did you look around at diff. RH? Dont feel bad. Listen I went to Jericho Terrace a week ago and they quoted me 120 plus tax and gratuity which would be about 150 a person, for a sat. night in March. Now If I was dead set on a pace that looks like JT or RUssos, I would have had no choice but to pay that much. Certain places are more popuar and desirable and therefore the RH feels that b.c the demand is higher, they can charge more. Lucky for me I fell in love w. Fox Hollow (Not super popular) and they gave me a great deal. I knew there was no way I was going to spend more than 90 (incl. tax and gratuity) for myguests. I had a budget and I made sure I stuck to it. Did you have a budget?

Re: How much are you paying per person
That was part of my problem. I went into this whole thing without any idea of what I expected to spend. It's this coming novemeber and I'll be honest, I don't think I'm getting much. My cocktail hour is amazing, but for dinner, all we're getting is an appetizer course and an entree. Also wedding cake and a cake tasting plate. No VH nothing. I'm really starting to feel ripped off.

dont feel so bad. tell your RH that you have a problem w. the fact that they are not giving you anything extra or special. Tell them that you are not happy and that you are beg. to 'regret' your decision. RH's like to protect their reputation, all it takes is one bad review on LI Weddings and forget it. lol

Be wary of this. This RH is responsible for one of the happiest days of your life. They can help make it happen, or make it very very hard. Once your contract is signed, it's a done deal unless you want to spend more money.

Look, this is going to sound mean but I swear it's not.
It is not your RH fault you walked in and signed your contract ill informed. It is every bride and grooms responsibility to ask questions and get educated about what to expect, seasonal prices and differences in RH.
Try to find a different approach to getting what you want.

When I first started writing in these forums I felt a comraderie. I realized that I wasn't the only one who felt traumatized by the whole wedding experience.
If anyone happens to read this blog and they haven't booked a RH yet, please keep this next bit of advice in mind:
Do not set a budget until you see everything thats available to you.
Once you know what different RH have to offer, how they bend, what the extras are and how the service will be it is wise to just look.
FH and I had a budget in mind and then we went on the RH search. We quickly learned that to have the kind of event we both wanted it was going to take a lot more money than we were willing to spend on the RH, or we were going to have to elminiate other things.
We eliminated a lot of things we considered miniscule, compromised our original budget and went for it!

It also help to book WAY in advance. The cost for our menu at our RH has gone up about 20% since we booked!

I guaranteed 150 - I wonder since more pp are coming now - if the price would have been lower. anyway its not the time to get pissed off at this or try to bargain (in my case anyway) since im 43 days away. menu is set. and we're almost ready to go. maybe some brides can take away from this post that havent booked or still have 9-10 months before their wedding. it s*u*cks bc I wanted to post this post about 6 months ago but I didnt want to offend anyone by asking straight out what they're paying!

There are different tiered menus at your RH. FH and I looked there as well. One of things we were turned off by was every BM we spoke to was unbendable and seeingly annoyed when we asked for more than what they offered.
Gabbie your wedding is in Peak Peak wedding season! What you are getting compared to PP is amazing! You really got a good deal!

I agree...I went to JT as well and the BM there told me that they look at certain dates (not even necessarily in peak season) and charge more for them because they are a high demand catering hall...Personally I feel that if you go into your catering hall and just express your concerns, they are not going to lower the price, but they may be able to give you some upgrades to make you feel better...Just ask, the worst they can say is NO!!
