your Maitrd D? Our RH suggested that we tip $5 per person and tip the bridal attendant $50. We thought that was a bit steep. I want to hear what you girls are tipping so we can give the average amount.

Re: How much are you tipping
This might be a really stupid question but im going to ask it anyway! hahaha!
What exactly does your Maitre D do? Is this the same person I have been working with since I booked my RH? And your bridal attendant is the person who follows you around all night, right?

I don't really know the answer to this either lol. I think they oversee the waiters, waitresses, bartenders and make sure everything runs smoothly but I could be wrong.

Re: How much are you tipping
I remember this question going around a lot last year with the '08 brides and I was told that you should tip the Maitre'D anywhere from $3-$5 per person and the bridal attendant $50-$100.

Re: How much are you tipping
LOL...I think your right though
I heard the same thing.....$3-$5 a person but wasnt sure for whom. Hmmm......
$50.00 for the bridal attendant sounds ok to me if she does what I think she does. Also, I would tip them (all of them) based on how good they were. Thats ok, right? I mean if you get bad service then you get bad tip, right? Good/great service, Great tip! right?

They also coordinate with the DJ as far as any announcements go (cake cutting, first dance, entrance, etc.) Also, I'm pretty sure they are the one who lines everyone up to get them into the hall/into the ceremony. ++ I THINK if you are trying to avoid contact with FH before the ceremony, they help facilitate that as well.

Re: How much are you tipping
My Maitr'd said his fee is $600 dollars which I'm not too sure about since I believe this is suppose to be a tip NOT a fee

Hair and Makeup sound high, I'm not paying much more than that for my hair I think it's only $85 for my hair. I know there was a thread about tipping the priest and I just feel so weird to do that. Wow there is so much money going into tips.

Re: How much are you tipping
I agree hair and makeup sounds a little high. For a lot of girls this amount would be 50% of what they are paying. I think I;'m going with the standard 20%

I think some of them are a little too much. especially the hair. they are getting so much money to begin with!
our priest is a friend so its a little different for us. but i think this is all at your own discrestion. do what you feel is right. god knows i don't have enough money for all those people!! HAHA

Re: How much are you tipping
When not to tip:
Officiant or clergy: Civil servants (judges, justices of the peace, etc.) are not permitted to accept tips. Clergy are generally paid a flat fee for their services, or they may ask that a donation be made to their house of worship instead.
I found this in an article Tips for Wedding Tips
And for hair and makeup they suggested 15-20%

I think they only applies to priests in a church.. I remember this was true when my sis was getting married at a church, they take donations but no tips.. but officiants outside of church you tip

Re: How much are you tipping
Honestly, I think all this tipping stuff i BS....we are all paying through the nose for everything, how can they possibly expect tips as well. Ugh, I wish they would just factor it into the price off the get-go and just take the extra stress out of it.
