I went looking for dresses with my sister and found these really cute dresses. I didn't even look at the price and now realize that even at the cheaper places in Commack they are $189 (not including alterations of course). Is that too much to ask them to spend? I know people who have gotten dresses that were a lot more, but for all of their weddings, we didn't spend over $140 plus alterations. What do you think? How much do yours cost?

Here's the dress. I want to do it in a sage color though. (file won't load)
My BMs come to about 150 each before alterations, but my Mom and sister will be doing the alterations for them..for free. LOL. Then, my 2 MOHs are about 180... I think that's a normal price range. My MOHs both think it's a great price. Talk it over with each of your BMs and see how much they can afford. I know my one BM has an issue with the price...but she'll have to deal...maybe my Mom can help out since she is my sis. ... and she has to pay for her 2 daughters too! lol...we'l;l see. It'll ALL work out!

Re: How Much Are Your Bridesmaid Dresses?
according to some online sites, 'retail' for our dresses were $190. I found them at various bridal shops ranging from $230 (but very willing to negotiate) to $176 (not willing to negotiate, but took 10% off since I got my dress there).
With the 10% off, my girls paid $160 + alterations. They were all OK with this price. I did see the dresses for $132 online, but heard horror stories about the website and felt for the $28 it was worth it to get them from a reputable local shop. The dresses came in exactly on time, no problems, and everything worked out well.
Price will depend on what your girls can afford -- definitely shop around and look online, I've heard some places will even price-match online prices. What designer is the dress? I'd say anything under $200 isn't too bad, but with hair, makeup, shoes, shower gifts, wedding gifts, bachelorette party, etc everything adds up so it depends on their situation.

I like it alot... they can totally wear it again. Did you try looking for other manufactures that may have it cheaper..? yet a simular style..?? Since you think it may be too much ... you may be able to find something close to that but cheaper... Good Luck!

I am thinking of doing the 2 Birds Bridesmaid dresses. You can tie them in like 10 different ways and they are one size fits all. They are pricey, like $290, but no alterations needed. I don't think any of my girls will mind the price...

Thanks for all the input. I spoke to two of the girls and they don't really mind the price. I'm going to look a little bit more and then make my decision. Oh, and thanks for posting the pic, I couldn't get it to load

Re: How Much Are Your Bridesmaid Dresses?
Mine are 159 plus alterations and I think that is very reasonable. I have paid over 300 in the past for weddings I was in!

Mine are Bill Levkoff and are costing the girls $195 + alterations. The dress was supposed to be more but because I am getting my dress there they are giving a discount.

2010 bride here: my sister (MOH) picked that dress and when she showed it to my cousins without telling them what it might be for they all said they would pay any price for it because it can be used again. i decided that if i pick that dress i am going to buy it for myself to wear at the rehearsal dinner.

Re: How Much Are Your Bridesmaid Dresses?
The first one i picked was $209, but it wasnt a dress you can wear again so i didnt want to ask them to pay that much for a one time dress so i picked a dress thats $125 and is just as nice as the first dress.

Re: How Much Are Your Bridesmaid Dresses?
Mine are either $99 (if we order online) or about $150 (suggested retail price). I definitely wanted something simple that could be worn again and wouldn't need a ton of alterations.
